Stags fans are reportedly quite unhappy with the realignment...

The city of Cincinnati is still fairly new, and they have a lot of work to do. You can see in the old aerial photo below they have some access to fishing resources and a lot of timber for production, so the potential for growth is there. Workers have been sent across the ocean to assist and have begun constructing lumber mills. Eventually they will be able to grow to the point where they can build their own Stadium, but not quickly. However, if the League itself becomes wealthy enough and they want to expand for the glory of Baseball, they might send construction teams with all the resources necessary to build one (and the Colosseum and Zoo that are prerequisites).
![]() At some point when the country is disgustingly wealthy that is the plan - found a slew of cities and establish stadiums to bring Baseball to every corner of the globe. ![]() For a starting city whose total production might be somewhere between 5 and 15, this wouldn't finish until 2025. But they will grow and increase their annual production - the forest resources and hills for mining will be a significant asset in that regard, and if they construct a Lighthouse they will receive production from ocean tiles also*. * I should mention that I'm running Civ V with all of the expansions, and the Lighthouse production benefit was added in Brave New World. Edit: Baseball's representative in Cincinnati has delivered the following report: "There are three fishing resources (one of them an oyster bed with pearls), a place to drill for oil offshore, herds of wild deer, and the island north of the frost line is covered in forest. Also, scouts have discovered an asteroid impact site they are calling the Barringer Crater that will be valuable for scientific research." This sounds like a good recipe for growth.

The Greeks are upset about our relationship with Korea and have referred to us as 'vermin'. I get the feeling that we're going to end up in a military situation with them someday, and I pity them. The Greeks have publicly denounced the Koreans. The Venetians have thanked us for our support (again) in the world congress. We might call on them for a favor in the future. Three-time Best Pitcher award winner SP Chris Morgan is a free agent. Fans wait nervously to see if the New York Admirals are able to keep the 39-year old veteran starter around at an affordable price. 37-year old pitcher Mike Trego is also a free agent, but it's uncertain if he will be able to pitch at all due to injuries. Significant free agent signings: SP Chris Morgan - Buffalo Argent RF Adam Hartfield - Houston Citadel SP Mike Trego - New York Admirals SP Kyle de Bora - New York Admirals SP Tony Diaz - Buffalo Argent 1B Makhmud Melifov - St. Louis Pioneers SP Ben Robson - Atlanta Bison SP Dave McCabe - Atlanta Bison SP Mark Gibson - Buffalo Argent RP Doug Katz - Houston Citadel SP Wes Barlow was elected to the Hall of Fame on his third attempt. The two-time Championship MVP was famous for steady production that ramped up in big-pressure situations. Tongue in cheek, Barlow told reporters at the press conference, "I want to thank all my teammates who scored so many runs and my fleet-footed outfielders, who ran down so many of my mistakes. Without them, I would have never made it to the Hall of Fame." ![]() Masters Division - The Boston Gold Led the New York Admirals by 4½ games at the break. The Admirals overtook Boston in the final weeks of the season, leaving Boston in a cloud of smoke. Legends Division - In a two-team race, the Houston Citadel grabbed a slim lead over the Almaty Diamond Kings at the break. Injuries decimated Almaty's rotation and they collapsed, finishing well behind Houston. Twilight Division - Chicago's all around solid play gave them a wide lead early on against their division rivals. They held on and played strong to the finish, especially in close games where they were saved by excellent bullpen pitching. Vanguard Division - For the first half of the season the Argent's pitching trio of Chris Morgan, Nate Davis, and Tony Diaz was almost unstoppable and Buffalo jumped into the lead with a 43-14 record. Even after returning to earth a bit the Argent dominated the division, finishing an amazing 23 games ahead of the Portland Stags. ![]() CBL Playoffs - Houston Citadel vs. Buffalo Argent: The Argent opened with a 7-0 shutout at home and rolled from there, eliminating the Citadel 4 games to 0. SP Matt Ledet ended up starting in place of Tony Diaz and pitched even better, showing the unstoppable power and depth of the Buffalo rotation. CBL Playoffs - New York Admirals vs. Chicago Miners: A tough series that went down to the wire, and ended in a game 7 pitching duel in Chicago, where New York Admirals SP Lee Rolf outpitched his opponent, SP Mario Portillo. CBL Championship - Buffalo was clearly the better team, but The New York Admirals gave them all they could handle. The Argent opened the series with 6-1 victory behind SP Chris Morgan, and ended it with a 7-1 complete game win by Morgan. In between the Admirals fought to tie the series three times. Despite the finish it was never truly in doubt. The Admirals pulled out all the stops but the Argent were just too strong. Buffalo 1B Ken Tower hit four home runs and was named series MVP. ![]() Buffalo SP Chris Morgan won his fourth Best Pitcher award, and Argent 1B Ken Tower won the MVP award. Tower also established the single season record for home runs with 37. |

WAR! We can afford to shrug off insults, but the Koreans can't. They have been dealing with Greek aggression for some time now, in ways as a neighboring territory, that we have not. They have found no alternative to dealing with the Greeks and implored us to join their effort. It feels like time to teach them some humility, so we agree to reduce Greece's standing military. ![]() Naval forces have left ports in Chicago, Buffalo, Miami, and Philadelphia. New destroyers and battleships are being deployed from Houston, Constantinople, Antioch, and Cleveland. Artillery and Cavalry have left Constantinople and Antioch in preparation for an amphibious assault on the new Greek city of Halicarnassus. ![]() RF Adam Hartfield has won two consecutive batting titles and becomes a free agent. Joining him are 1938 Best Picher SP Nate Davis, SP Tony Diaz, 4-time Best Reliever CL Edwin Rojas, and defensive whiz SS Ho-win Yang. Notable signings: RF Adam Hartfield - Houston Citadel SP Nate Davis - Washington Elephants SP Tony Diaz - Houston Citadel SS Ho-win Yang - Atlanta Bison SP Tristan Rood - New York Admirals SP Gianluigi Castagna - Washington Elephants CL Edwin Rojas - Buffalo Argent LF Akiho Hori - Buffalo Argent RF Matt Gonzales - St. Louis Pioneers C Jeff Cates has been inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was the 1922 Rookie of the Year, played 19 seasons for the Almaty Diamond Kings, and fulfilled expectations by winning the CBL Championship series in 1930 during which he was MVP. ![]() Masters Division - In the only division race that provided any real drama, the Elephants, Admirals and Bison shared the lead entering July. Slugging 1B Sergei Kaisin went on a tear to lead Washington to a strong finish over the New York Admirals. Legends Division - Picking up free agent acquisition Tony Diaz proved to be a good choice for Houston as he rose to the top of the heap of starting pitchers in the first half, and the Citadel led 7 games over Almaty. The second half saw the Citadel go on a rampage, with the rest of the teams headed in the other direction. Twilight Division - The Miami Haberdashers entered the season on a mission to return to the Championship, and established a strong lead over the rest of the division. The Chicago Miners threatened late, but never got close enough to overtake Miami. Vanguard Division - The Buffalo Argent and Portland Stags fought for the top spot, with Buffalo up by three games at the break. San Francisco went on a winning streak in August to temporarily take over 2nd place, but fell behind the Stags again in September, while the Argent cruised to victory. ![]() CBL Playoffs - Buffalo Argent vs. Houston Citadel: Houston's other major acquisition in the offseason, RF Adam Hartfield, batted .450 in the series and led the Citadel to a surprisingly easy 4-1 series victory over the Argent. CBL Playoffs - The Miami Haberdashers managed to open and close the series with victories on enemy turf, and claimed a 4-2 series win. Miami 1B Jason DeLoach hit a pair of key home runs and was named MVP. CBL Championship - Miami SP Ben Sietsma started out Miami with a strong victory in Houston. That was all that Houston would allow in the series, shutting down Miami for the next four games. Citadel RF Adam Hartfield stayed hot, batting .478 for the series and grabbing MVP honors again. Houston grabbed their 2nd Championship, their first since 1931. ![]() Washington Elephants CF Jaden Burton was named MVP, and Miami SP Frank "Long Haul" Beaudry was selected Best Pitcher. In his fifth playoff appearance Houston manager Toshiaki "Toad" Kato brought his team a Championship and was named Manager of the Year. The Hall of Fame former pitcher said, "Everyone on the team put in a lot of hard work this season, and it's always nice when it's acknowledged in some way." |

Archeologists have discovered ruins of an ancient baseball field east of Los Angeles. It is believed to be the site of a famous meeting between the Americans and Mongolians, where it was decided that ownership of the island would be determined by a game of Baseball instead of killing each other. The Americans won, then joined their opponents in a Mongolian barbecue with potato salad. ![]() ![]() The city of Adrianople has been converted to Baseball. The American fleet has departed the southern continent and is headed to Greece. The heart of their empire is on the opposite side of the globe, so it will take some time to set up for attack. Many cities are producing groups of settlers who are eager to found cities in new lands. The last two Best Pitcher Award winners, SP Frank Beaudry and SP Chris Morgan, are both free agents. Notable free agent signings: SP Frank Beaudry - Houston Citadel SP Chris Morgan - Washington Elephants 3B John Hamilton - Buffalo Argent SP Isaiah Scott - Buffalo Argent CF Eric Heath - Houston Citadel LF Rahman Hamal - Buffalo Argent SP Javier Lopez was inducted into the Hall of Fame in his second year. Fans were unsure if Lopez would receive the recognition he deserved for his productive career since he never played on a winning team or received an award, but in the end his longevity and steady production earned him admission. He played 18 seasons for the Los Angeles Steel, with his best season coming in 1929 when he went 29-6 with a 3.34 ERA. ![]() Masters Division - The New York Admirals charged out to an early lead, with the Washington Elephants close behind. Despite the Elephants playing very well, the Admirals widened their lead and captured the division easily with the best record in the league. Legends Division - The Houston Citadel were the only team in the division with a winning record on draft day as teams were hoping to rebuild for future seasons. Houston coasted to victory, never really being challenged. Experts doubt their preparation for the postseason. Twilight Division - The Miami Haberdashers settled in for a season long battle with the Chicago Miners, and grabbed a narrow lead in July. The Haberdashers never surrendered their lead. Chicago came within 1 game in August, but Miami pulled away and finished strong. Vanguard Division - The Buffalo Argent suffered some early season injuries, but still managed to hold a 3-game lead over the San Francisco Zoo at the break. When their players returned from the disabled list they dominated the division and coasted to a 24 game advantage. ![]() CBL Playoffs - Miami Haberdashers vs. Buffalo Argent - Buffalo dominated Miami, sweeping the series 4-0. RF Nick Sarris batted .563 with three HRs in the four games and was named series MVP. CBL Playoffs - Houston Citadel vs. New York Admirals - Houston SP Hajime Nakata pitched a 5-hit shutout in game 2, but the rest of the glory in the series went to New York. Admirals 3B Matvey Tarovik was given the MVP and batted .421 in five games. CBL Championship - It was the matchup that everyone expected from early on, facing the well-practiced teamwork of the Admirals against the powerful free agent acquisitions of Buffalo. Despite Buffalo's Akiho "Squirt" Hori finding his power stroke early, the Admirals delivered key hits and solid pitching in the first two games at home. As the series shifted to Buffalo the story changed, with the home crowd firing up the Argent, who swept the three games at home. But the Admirals had the home field advantage and the series shifted back to New York. Admirals SP Endale Dhoruba pulled a leg muscle in the first inning of game 6, but the Admirals bullpen rallied to pitch a combined shutout, sending the series to a deciding 7th game. In the final match Admirals manager Ben Nash decided not to go to his tired bullpen and left SP Tristan Rood in to pitch in the 9th inning. With two outs 3B John Hamilton singled home a pair of runs to give the Argent a 5-3 lead, and star CL Edwin Rojas nailed down the save to give Buffalo the Championship. Buffalo 1B Ken Tower batted .400 with a pair of home runs and was named series MVP. ![]() Buffalo SP Matt "Flip" Ledet won his first Best Pitcher Award. Buffalo 1B Ken Tower capped his excellent postseason run with his second MVP Award. Buffalo manager Waleed Harith won his second Best Manager Award. Constantinople CF Jeremy King was named Rookie of the Year. |

The city of Kansas City has been founded on an island northwest of New Orleans, across the strait from the capital of Venice. ![]() 42-year old Chris Morgan is a free agent again, and the 4-time Best Pitcher Award winner and all-time leader in games started is looking for another team to play for. Major free agent acquisitions: SP Chris Morgan - Houston Citadel SS Akihisha Kimura - Houston Citadel CL Edwin Rojas - Washington Elephants SP Dave McCabe - Houston Citadel LF Kevin Hillenbrand - Houston Citadel RP Nate "Ping" Davis - Unsigned. He's no longer a starter and he's kind of a selfish jerk, so teams passed on him. C Masashige Suga - retired Top prospects: ![]() SP Justin "Whiskey" Whitlock was inducted into the Hall of Fame on his first ballot. At his induction ceremony, the talented and gifted pitching star addressed the baseball immortals and adoring fans who gathered to honor him. "I dreamed of this as a child but I never really thought it would happen... and now it has." ![]() Masters Division - The Washington Elephants took a 5 game lead into the break over the New York Admirals. By season's end they had doubled their lead, earning a convincing division victory. Legends Division - Getting a new group of free agents to work together is often a difficult task, but Citadel manager Toshiaki "Toad" Kato was up to the task and pushed his team out in front of the Almaty Diamond Kings. Once they got rolling they didn't stop, finishing with a 16 game advantage over Almaty. Twilight Division - At the halfway point the Chicago Miners and Miami Haberdashers were tied at a record of 49-34. They fought neck and neck until the final weeks of the season, and Chicago went on a 17-4 run to seal their victory. Vanguard Division - The Buffalo Argent looked to repeat their success and grabbed a 13 game lead over the Los Angeles Steel at midseason. They were unstoppable in the second half and finished 25 games ahead of the San Francisco Zoo, who played well and looked like a team of the future. ![]() CBL Playoffs - Chicago Miners vs. Buffalo Argent - Buffalo was expected to demolish the Miners, but Chicago made their fans proud by holding the Buffalo offense to no more than three runs in each game. It wasn't enough to win however, as they were unable to generate any consistent offense of their own. Buffalo SP Steve Novacek continued his hot streak with a pair of victories and gained MVP honors. CBL Playoffs - Washington Elephants vs. Houston Citadel - The well-managed Citadel took apart the Elephants in six games, and the outcome wasn't that close. Aside from a couple of Washington victories at home the Citadel proved they were the more talented team both on offense and defense. Despite losing the series, Washington LF Jaden Burton was given the MVP for batting .458 with a pair of home runs. CBL Championship - Buffalo arrived in the championship circle again, looking to repeat. It looked like the Citadel was poised for the upset, but in game 1 at home the Argent came back from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4 on a walkoff HR by C Abidin "Schoolboy" Sancakli. In game 2 SP Steve "Hillbilly" Novacek pitched a complete game for a 5-1 win and gave Buffalo a 2-0 advantage as the series moved to Houston. The Citadel rebounded at home and dominated the Argent 9-1. They hoped to gain the series advantage in their own stadium, but split the final two games going back to Buffalo. Facing elimination the Houston bullpen came up big and bought time for the Citadel offense to secure the victory late in game 6, pushing the series to a deciding game in Buffalo. With everything on the line in game 7 the lead finally changed for good when Buffalo's Sancakli hit an RBI single off SP Hajime Nakata in the 7th inning to give Buffalo SP Matt Ledet a 4-3 complete game victory and their 8th CBL Championship. ![]() Buffalo Argent SP Matt "Flip" Ledet won his second consecutive Best Pitcher Award. Three years after being named Rookie of the Year, Buffalo C Abidin "Schoolboy" Sancakli was named MVP. Buffalo manager Waleed Harith won his third Best Manager Award. Buffalo RP Jim White received the Reliever of the Year award. St. Louis Pioneers C Mark Kelley was named Rookie of the Year. |

American scientists have discovered penicillin. Time players must spend on the disabled list has been reduced from 15 to 12 days. The most coveted free agent this year is former Chicago SS Egor Mostynets. He's a gold glove shortstop with power and speed and a high OB%. A good clubhouse guy coming into his prime at age 30 his services should be in high demand. Significant signings: SP Nick Coleman - Atlanta Bison SS Egor Mostynets - Buffalo Argent CF - Goro Yamaguchi - New York Admirals 2B - Nobushige Takeda - Chicago Miners RF Khaldun Yazid - Buffalo Argent SP Max Bennett - Atlanta Bison Top prospects: ![]() There were no Hall of Fame selections this year. Masters Division - The Elephants, Admirals, and Bison all fought for first place through the first half of the season, with the Elephants gradually pulling away at the end of the season. Legends Division - The Houston jumped out to an 11 game lead at the break. The rest of the division collapsed and they found themselves winning by 28 games. Twilight Division - The Miami Haberdashers held an early lead, trailed by the Seattle Anglers. Seattle slowly chased down and overtook Miami, then cruised down the stretch. They appear to be peaking as a team at the right time. Vanguard Division - The Buffalo Argent dominated the division from beginning to end, winning by 21 games. ![]() CBL Playoffs - Seattle Anglers vs. Buffalo Argent - Nobody expected Seattle to give the powerful Agent much of a challenge, but when they won the opening game in Buffalo 6-4 is was a wakeup call. The Argent responded, pushing Seattle back and winning the series 4 games to 2. Buffalo SP Steve "Hillbilly" Novacek was the big story, pitching 17.3 scoreless innings and winning series MVP. CBL Playoffs - Houston Citadel vs. Washington Elephants - The series was back-and-forth with neither team being able to put away the other until the 7th game. Houston outhit Washington and grabbed the lead, but the Elephants fought back. Washington came within a run, but 5-time Reliever of the Year winner RP Doug Katz slammed the door and gave the Citadel a trip to the Championship. Houston 1B Jim Moss batted .444 in the 7 games and was named series MVP. CBL Championship - Houston rocked the opener behind a 6-hit shutout from SP Jim Peterkin. Buffalo nearly lost the next game at home also, but a 3-run rally in the bottom of the 15th inning - sparked by an inside the park HR by leadoff man SS Egor Mostynets - tied the series at 1-1. The Buffalo offense came alive in game 3 in Houston, highlighted by a pair of HRs from 3B Jaylen Johnstone. SP Jim Peterkin combined with his bullpen to pitch another shutout in game 4, and the Citadel almost won game 5 also but a 4-run rally in the top of the 9th sent the series back to Buffalo with a 3-2 game lead for the Argent. Facing elimination, Houston SP Nick Thompson was outdueled by Buffalo SP Steve Novacek, and the Argent won the series 4 games to 2. 3B Jaylen Johnstone was named series MVP. ![]() Houston Citadel RP Doug Katz won his 6th Reliever of the Year award at age 40. St. Louis Pioneers C Jason "The Natural" Hood was named Rookie of the Year. Buffalo Argent manager Waleed Harith won his 4th Manager of the Year award. Buffalo SP Matt Ladet won his 3rd consecutive Best Pitcher award. Miami Haberdashers CF Hariz Malik wan named Most Valuable Player. |

American scientists have discovered the Atomic Theory. A source of uranium has been discovered next to the city of Miami. ![]() We've discovered that the Koreans are plotting against both the Egyptians and the Mongols. We're not going to second-guess our decision to join them in the conflict against Greece, but the intelligence we're getting from our spies and diplomats is painting the picture of a more aggressive Korea than we first thought. Intelligence has been shared with our other allies. New York has begun construction on the Manhattan Project. New York has been connected to Washington by railway. The CBL reports the players with the highest national popularity: ![]() After a slow offseason last year, a few big names could change teams this season. Most notable among them are 3-time reigning Best Pitcher SP Matt "Flip" Ledet and 6-time Best Reliever CL Doug Katz. Notable signings: SP Matt Ledet - New York Admirals CL Doug Katz - New York Admirals SP Matt Amundson - Washington Elephants LF Danny Panopoulos - Houston Citadel 2B Konstatin Elistratov - Washington Elephants There were no Hall of Fame selections this year. Masters Division - The top spot was in contention most of the season, with the Elephants holding a narrow lead over the Admirals and Bison. The race came down to the final days of the season, with the Elephants narrowly winning the division for the 9th time in the last 14 years. Legends Division - The Houston Citadel exploded out to a 21-game lead at the midpoint and built their lead even larger in the second half, winning the division by a head-spinning 43 games over the Philadelphia Idols. Twilight Division - Chicago grabbed a narrow division lead at the end of the first half of the season, but Miami and Seattle over took the Miners in the final weeks. On the last day of the season Miami and Seattle both finished with a 88-74 record. In the sudden-death elimination game at Miami, the Haberdashers held off a 9th inning rally by Seattle to win the game, and the division title. Vanguard Division - The surprising San Francisco Zoo looked to change their fortunes and grabbed an 8-game lead over the Los Angeles Steel. Buffalo lost SS Egor Mostynets to a fractured rib for five weeks. By the time they recovered they couldn't catch the Zoo and had to settle for 2nd place, ending their playoff run. ![]() CBL Playoffs - Miami Haberdashers vs. Houston Citadel: The Citadel proved that their record wasn't just padded by playing in a weak division, and eliminated Miami in 6 games. Houston SS Akihisha Kimura batted .393 in the series earning MVP honors. CBL Playoffs - Washington elephants vs. San Francisco Zoo: The upstart Zoo were outplayed by the veteran Elephants, with Washington SP Fabi Gaft throwing gems in games 1 and 4 and earning series MVP. CBL Championship - Washington Elephants vs. Houston Citadel: Game 1 @HOU - Washington SP Bill Mares fired a complete-game 4-hit shutout. Game 2 @HOU - Neither starting pitcher showed up for this game, as the Elephants hit 5 HRs and outscored the Citadel 17-12. Game 3 @WAS - Houston's veteran SP Nick Thompson held down the Elephants and surrendered only 1 run on 5 hits. Game 4 @WAS - The Houston offense came up with the win this time, C Ryan Bennett hit his third HR in the series. Game 5 @WAS - Washington SP Fabi Gaft pitched better than he did in game 2, but it wasn't good enough for the win, and Houston pushed the Elephants to the brink of elimination. Game 6 @ HOU - Continuing the trend of the home team losing every game, Washington LF Jaden Burton scored on a sac fly by Sung-ho Choi in the top of the 10th inning for an 8-7 win. Game 7 @ HOU - In the final game of the series Houston finally became the first team to win a game at home. Citadel SP Nick Thompson pitched good enough to hold down the Elephants long enough for the weak bullpen to finish out the game and give Houston their third CBL Championship. Houston 2B Adam Weekley was named series MVP. ![]() Washington 1B Adam Lazardis was named Rookie of the Year. Houston manager Toshiaki Kato was named Manager of the Year. Atlanta SP Nick Coleman was voted Pitcher of the Year. Washington LF Jaden Burton was voted most Valuable Player for the 2nd time. Last edited by Hammercraft; 07-17-2016 at 04:46 PM. |

Will Korea drag you into a world war, or did you just happen to sign up with some overly eager beavers? I'm sure the stadium construction lobby is carefully reviewing topographical maps of Halicarnassus ![]() On a side note, are you editing things like the baseball bat into Civ, or making the graphics outside the game? You're doing a great job re-purposing game events like discovering penicillin. PPSS. An online league of this would be kind of hilarious, although I imagine wars in Civ might lead GMs to quit the OOTP league

I don't edit things into Civ, but I will customize the graphics for the fun of it . I also haven't made any OOTP changes that I haven't announced in the thread (reducing the disabled list, expanding the league, turning retired Hall of Famers into coaches, etc.).The Greeks did a good job claiming Halicarnassus. There aren't a whole lot of unsettled places left in the world and they sailed halfway around the world and grabbed that little foothold. Unfortunately, so did Korea. If things start to go sour, Andong is next. ![]() As far as the San Francisco Zoo goes, their GM is named Josh Morrison and he's gaining quite the reputation in his first GM job.

The city of Milwaukee has been founded on an island between Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Portland. ![]() Our spies have discovered that the Koreans are also constructing the Manhattan Project. We can't let them finish before us. Washington has begun assembling supply trains that will ship support to the project over the railway to New York. The biggest name free agent is SP Steve "Hillbilly" Novack. If a team were looking for a pitcher with big-time playoff experience, they couldn't pick a better player. Notable acquisitions: SP Steve Novack - New York Admirals 1B Ryan "Legs" Bell - Almaty Diamond Kings 2B Nobushige "Bumblebee" Takeda - Seattle Anglers CL Doug Katz - Seattle Anglers For the third straight year there were no players selected for the Hall of Fame. Masters Division - The Elephants started out slowly but went on a tear in June lifting themselves into a tie for first with the Boston Gold on draft day, a half game ahead of New York. The division shook itself out in the final week of the season. Washington fell apart at the wrong time and finished third, and the Boston Gold and New York Admirals finished tied at 97-65.
