James D. Robinson

James Dorsey Robinson, a pitcher and outfielder, is shown in the uniform of the Brooklyn Royal Giants. A photo of this player was posted previously on this thread, but the uniform in that photo was unknown at the time of the posting. I've edited that post now to indicate that he was in a Cuban X Giants uniform in that shot.

Price West

Price West was an outfielder with the 1958 Detroit Clowns. His obituary indicates that he also played with the 1955 New York Black Yankees, but I had not found that reference from any other source. He was with the Kansas City Monarchs in 1961. He died on January 1, 2016.

8/21/2016 update: Found newspaper reference which confirms his being on the 1955 New York Black Yankees.

Alvin Spearman

Although two photos of Spearman have been posted previously on this thread, it seemed fitting to post this one because it is particularly striking. It is his obituary photo from the Chicago Tribune. He died on January 14, 2016. Alvin was a pitcher with the Chicago American Giants in 1950 and 1951. He also appeared briefly as an outfielder with the Kansas City Monarchs.

Jorge Almagro

Jorge was an outfielder with the Pittsburgh Crawfords in 1945. This photo appeared in the Kingston (NY) Daily Freeman newspaper in June of 1948 when he was about to play for the San Juan Stars against the Kingston Colonials. I'm not sure of the uniform, but think it may be the New York Black Yankees, as the San Juan Stars were being managed at the time by Dick Seay, the former Black Yankee.

Richard A. Kelley

Richard A. Kelley played first base, second base, and shortstop for the Danville, Illinois and Jamestown, NY teams during the 1889 through 1891 period. He is shown here in the Danville Browns uniform. This is from an 1889 Danville composite photo currently offered in the Goodwin and Co. auction. A tip from a SABR member led me to this photo.

The original image is on the left. The second image is after re-orientation to make it upright. The third image is after conversion to black & white.

Artis Demery

Baseball-reference.com indicates that Artis Demery "pitched in the waning days of the Negro Leagues" and just before he entered the minor leagues. He first pitched in the minors for the Bakersfield Indians in 1953. B-R indicates that he played for the San Francisco Sea Lions Negro League team in the West Coast Baseball League in 1946. I don't know if he played for any other Negro League team.

Artis was the father of major league pitcher Larry Demery and minor league pitcher Art Demery (who was on the KC Royals' spring roster in 1972).

The left-hand photo of Artis comes from the Bakersfield Californian of September 8, 1951 and shows him in a local Bakersfield uniform (not the Indians). The photo on the right shows him in a sweater, and comes from the Bakersfield Californian of August 16, 1949.

Is there anything else known about Clara Marie Jones? How long was she owner of the Boston ABC's? Where is she buried?

Great picture of Paul Jones! I am a friend of his and he didn't have any pictures of himself during his playing days until now. He was thrilled to finally have a picture of himself in uniform. Thank You!
