Overall rating doesn't match scouting report

Why do the overall/potential ratings shown on player cards and in reports/menus not match up with the overall/potential ratings shown in the Scouting Report tab?

Example here: Rafael Guerrero scouting

The 51 overall/potential shown on the main player card doesn't match ANY of the scouting reports from either my scout or OSA. Why is this?

For reference, these are my ratings settings: rating settings

could be more than one reason, but...

looks like you just called him up. scouting for minor and major leagues are slightly different - even moreso if you don't spend as much on each budget.

so, it could be a more accurate or less accurate reading once they moved to the majors, regardless of the situation... bad scouting can happen anytime.

unless you have 100% accurate scouting, this isn't unusual. i've seen a poorly scouted well-rated player eventually get rated correctly... maybe it was luck... but he was consistent for a good amount of time and it makes sense that it got 'fixed' over time, hopefully in response to the consistent results. i'm just going with that either way.

edit: from the screenshots, the colors don't match but the numbers are spot on now that he's in the majors.

This happens with every player, regardless of how long they've been in the majors. The overall/potential ratings shown on player cards and in menus just do not match the ones shown on the scouting reports.

The new patch does fix some issues with scouting reports not matching the actual ratings, and makes sure that the text descriptions in the scouting report will match what the ratings describe. It should certainly be better than before.

There still may be some disconnect when using relative ratings, as we don't always store values in the same formats, so sometimes the past scouting reports will still report the "raw" values and not the relative values.
