Shop players around yields no trade offers since update

No matter which player I choose to shop around, since the latest update, no trade offers are available from opposing teams.

Is this anyone else's experience? I even reinstalled the update hoping it would help, but it didn't. Trade difficulty setting is still average also. I checked.

I posted a topic on this issue as well. You're not alone.

I have not seen issues with shopping players in test games I have done, I certainly do get replies. Have you tried with shopping players who would obviously get interest (guys like a Mookie Betts, who's a star on a league minimum deal)?

Otherwise, I'd need to know more about your league setup (standard MLB game? Fictional? Historical?), and what date you are trying to shop the player, as well as details about who you're trying to shop. You can also send league files (How to FTP files to OOTP Developments - Powered by Kayako Help Desk Software) again with details about who you're trying to shop, and we can investigate to see if there's anything in your league that differs from the tests that we have that work.

I have this issue as well - occured with the previous patch, which also led to the released players issue, didn't go away in the hotfix. I was at the start of the offseason at the time and am still in the offseason, now after free agency filings. I've been playing on since the hotfix in hopes it would fix itself but to no avail. So I've been trying to shop players from November to January 1st. No dice.

I'm running a fictional league that's been going for 70 years. I won't get any offers, even for my majestic diamond-encrusted platinum studs - the game doesn't even seem to calculate at all. I'm also at "None", equivalent to roughly -7 million, available money for Free Agents, though I just gave myself 40 million in cash and it didn't fix it.

This seems to be an issue that only affects (some) leagues that were updated from the old version somehow, as starting both a MLB Quickstart as well as a fictional league created from the template I used for my currently broken one will result in a working shop a player feature with my game.

I'm not 100% if the settings of my fictional league are identical to those in the template (70 seasons is a lot of time) - but I think in all relevant aspects it ought to be the case.

I'll send you my file if you think it might help!

EDIT: Stop the presses - I got the Shop a Player feature to work again!

I was sloppy before when I added cash - I tried a player again that I had shopped before on the same day, so the game simply reused the old calculations. If I do, in fact, get my money (via cash or budget adjustments) back up to where I have a positive Available money rating, I get Shop a Player results again.

It seems that if you don't have any money available, the game will dismiss the notion that you could afford any trade out of hand - including the ones that would improve your salary situation or leave it unaffected. For instance, at 4 million Available Money for Free Agents, the one offer I get for my $16 million salary first baseman is a $15.8 million one - but I don't get any if I'm at -6.5 million, including that one, even though it would help bring down my payroll.

Basically, if you're at "None" in Available Money for Free Agents, you can no longer shop players. (You can still make trades that wouldn't increase your payroll, if you do them manually. Did plenty during this offseason. So I doubt this is intentional behavior - given that financially beneficial trades are just about the only way to get out of a bloated payroll other than just DFAing and hoping someone bites.)

I was able to reproduce the issue in the MLB Quickstart, too. Do you have a testing save for a financially destitute team?

My setup is standard MLB game in year 2022. I have offered several 80 overall players, it doesn't matter. The game appears not to be calculating at all.

Thanks to those of you who replied.

BarryB - what's your current payroll situation? Do you have money available for free agents?

See the update in my post above for what I found out.

My deduction is that the game is currently broken with regards to the shop a player feature if you're too far in the red - the game won't even consider financially beneficial or neutral trades.

I most definitely do not. You figured it out! Thanks man. Hopefully an adjustment can be made in this area.

Just want to echo, I've had a similar problem with shop around players (and I think trades in general), and yes it has to do with the budget.

Right as I was installing the update, I moved to a new team, whose payroll was larger than its budget, I had plenty of desirable guys to move off, but I couldn't move anyone. I even tried to move five star prospects who had no ML salary, still nothing. Once I edit finacials and increased budget to account for the excess payroll, the shop around function yielded results.

(And once I traded enough salary away, I simply edited the budget back down to where it should be.)

In any case, there is a bug regarding shop-around for teams in the red.

yep i'm having the same issue - shopping players is broken with the new patch. I've tried to shop pretty much everyone on my ML roster and no team makes an offer. feels like it's one issue after another with 17.

I am experiencing this issue too but it does look like the payroll situation explains it. I have a bunch of cash that I am waiting to get off the books for next year. Just work the trades manually, it stinks but the AI will consider it.
