Amateur Draft Pool Nearly Empty

This season, my Amateur Draft Pool is nearly empty (only nine players). I am not sure if this is a bug or a settings problem. I’ve never encountered it before in my league’s 15 prior seasons so I wanted to ask about it here. I have a fictional 16 team league in OOTP 17 that I’ve been playing in various OOTP versions since 2000. It has AAA/AA/A minor leagues and no feeder leagues. I have never touched the Amateur Draft Settings, instead leaving them at their defaults.

Here were the values in League Settings >> Rules >> Amateur Draft Settings:
Amateur Draft: Enabled
Amateur Draft Date: June 15
Amateur Draft Number of Rounds: 15
Amateur Draft Pool Reveal Date: 30 days prior to draft
Enable Advanced Draftee Signing: Yes

When the Draft Pool was published, there were only nine players available. I pushed the draft date back and changed the draft pool reveal date in hopes OOTP would generate additional players. When the new reveal date arrived, there was another “Draft Pool Revealed” news item. Unfortunately, the pool consisted of the same nine players. In my previous drafts, OOTP always generated just enough players for every team to draft in every round.

The OOTP 17 online manual mentions an option for “Generate Players for X Rounds” in the Amateur Draft Settings section. I thought the value may have been set too low but that setting does not appear on my Rules screen.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there anything I can do to force a complete draft pool to be generated at this point? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm guessing you have it set to use historical rookies, and you have potentially reached the point where there are none anymore. You will likely need to switch to a fictional draft now.

i am seeing the same thing ... i have it set to historical rookies and i'm playing 1915 era. Last couple of years, only one or two real players have shown up, forcing me to generate fictional ones to fill my 7 rounds. When i had feeder leagues the game said it would generate X number of players, but i deleted the feeders, as they created far too many marginal players. maybe it's an off-season or pres-season setting? Dunno. Just recall seeing in the past (way past possibly). Or am i missing a setting somewhere (yes, IT is possible!!

In 1915 historical draft there should be 178 Rookie Players in the draft, 1916=100, 1917=93, 1918=76.

The poster says his league is fictional.

Other players have noted that during a historical leagues inaugural year players are in the draft a year late. Only fictional players appear in the first year. Only sometimes of course, always would make it to easy to find.

Thanks Spritze. i'll see how many i get. Possible i may have messed something up when i expanded my league by 8 teams a few years back. Appreciate your efforts to look and let me know.

EDIT:

musta been an anomaly - reached draft for this year (1914 actually) and had plenty of players. 200 or so. Anyway ... good to know it's working OK and again thanks for the look-see.

Matt, you nailed it! In League Settings >> Options, "Automatically import real historical rookies" was checked. I deselected that option and then "Generate Players for X Rounds" appeared under Amateur Draft Settings in League Settings >> Rules. I pushed the draft date out a day and a complete draft pool of 240 fictional players was created on the reveal date.
