Fictional mode question pleaseeeee :-)

Hey guys,
Ok trying to figure this out, trying to create a fictional league. I want a 30 team 6 division league but it wont let me select real NHL players.... it will only if select "real NHL" format... Why on earth can you not use real NHL players for a 30 team 6 division set? As long as its still 30 teams I figured we would be able too.... I'm really hoping I'm doing something wrong????

There is a real player option. Maybe you missed it when you first started.

It's one of the first questions asked when starting a custom league.

Yeah, it's a checkbox on the first page of the wizard, 'Start a Fictional Game'.

It's the very bottom option and starts unchecked by default. If you want the real players, you'll have to check the box.

No, what I'm saying is.... If I select league format "2016 NHL" than I can check the Real Player option at the bottom.
However, if I select Any other league format option, for example I want to use the "30 teams 6 division" format, it will not let me select the real player checkbox anymore. I try to click it but it wont let me. Can one of you guys try it when you get a sec to see what I mean please???? I'm hoping its an easy fix, thanks sooooo much!!!!

I think if you check the draft box it uses real players.

Nope just tried it, its fictional players.... the real players box apparently does have to be checked and for some reason it cant get checked for any other fictional league format other than 2016 NHL. I would understand for like smaller league setups but using a league setup of still 30 teams, I don't understand why they wouldn't be able to still let us click on "use real players"

I'm not sure then, this would be a question for Sebastian.

I do have a couple thoughts, for what they're worth.

I think it's likely that you can't do this because using real NHL players in a custom league would unbalance things too badly given that most all of the custom options feature leagues with less teams than the real NHL. You'd have too many good players, not enough money to go around etc.

It's also possible this is an NHL licensing related issue as well.

Yeah I see what you're saying, the first thought you had is why I was thinking if it was possible for the FHM team to allow use of real NHL players to ONLY the custom leagues that still had 30 teams, but any less than 30 teams than have real NHL players disabled.

On your second thought, no idea about that so you could be totally right :-) Thanks a lot for all the info!!! Hopefully Sebastian will see this and throw in his knowledge for me

So now i can create my EHL = Endor Hockey League? Can i add nations?

No, sorry. This is really not even remotely like OOTP hockey.

You're not going to be able to recreate your giant worlds from OOTP in FHM, it's just not designed to do that sort of thing.
