OOTP Real-Time Sim Crashes 100% of the time on Mac
I'm in an online league where the commish/simmer is using a Mac. Every time he tries to sim more than two days of games in real-time, pushing the web page and box scores to the web server, OOTP crashes and he is forced to re-sim. The only work-around so far is to sim one day in real-time, exit the game, restart, and sim another day.
I've also got a Mac, and am able to reproduce this crash running a couple days of a test online league I've created. The options used during the sim are: - Regular FTP - Box scores enabled - Game logs disabled - 15-second update rate Opened a support ticket with a league file that can be used to reproduce the bug, but I also wanted to post this to the Bug Reports forum for anyone else that's having the problem. Note: My analysis so far of this bug is that there is a resource leak when running the real-time sim. The key number that seems to increase on a Mac is the "# of Mach Ports". It increases constantly, until eventually the game crashes with a NULL pointer, which appears to happen during a memory allocation, indicating the OS is no longer able to give the app any more resources. The "# of Mach Ports" starts at a relatively small number, and over a period of hours running the sim, increase to over 5,000. Note #2: Running real-time sims on Linux there is also a pretty large memory leak, but it doesn't cause the app to crash. After several game days of simming, the app will have allocated over 70GB of virtual memory, although it has only used a small part of it, so it's not actually consuming that much. |

A ticket was filed, Andreas looked at the issue, and confirmed it's a bug in OOTP17, and they plan to fix in OOTP18.
