Historical sim questions.

So I'm looking to run a just-for-fun alternate universe sim, where the Rockies drafted Evan Longoria instead of Greg Reynolds in the 2006 draft. I have set up a 2006 historical file using the default wizard, and I've noticed a couple of things I'd like to fix (somehow):

1. Quite a few players drafted in 2006 are already with their teams as of opening day. I imagine this is because the game generates rosters based on stats accrued that year, so drafted players who made professional debuts in 2006 get assigned there right away. I'd really like to find a way to get all of the 2006 draftees back on the draft list.

2. Some issues with contracts: It appears that some players (like Todd Helton and Albert Pujols) have different contracts in the game than in real life (as of 2006). Again, I imagine that this is a simplifying effect, to avoid needing to store years of contract details.

Does anyone know of a good way to make these adjustments? Do I need to do it all manually, or can I modify the game database files somehow using another program? Does someone have an accurate 2006 quickstart file I could use? Thanks!

If I'm in commissioner mode, can I take a player (Evan Longoria for example) who is currently rostered, remove him from any roster, but make him draft-eligible and not a free agent?

I think you would have to Commish Mode it and assign him to the Rockies via the editor. Once he's in the game, he's not going through the draft again.

Yea, that's what I did first, and it works OK.

Regarding the draft: it's set by default to December in historical play. Does that mean that the December 2006 draft will include all players who made their pro debut in 2007?

I believe so. I only play with reserve rosters, so in my case it would be players who made their MLB debuts in 2007. My draft takes place on November 1st every year. If you wanted to get Longoria into the draft, you could probably start in 2005 and sim to the draft date and he should be there.
