Questions Before Purchase OOTP19

Hello,

I know you've probably heard this before, but I'm a long time SOM player, and I've been thinking about purchasing this game the past few years.
The 19 version has some really good features that interest me, but I have a few questions before taking the plunge.

1. Is there really a comparison between OOTP19 and SOM?

2. Can I create a custom league and schedule using any MLB team from any era?

3. Can I just manage a team and not worry about the GM side of things?

4. Is the game pretty easy to pick up and play?

5. Are there sites with player photos and ballparks to import into the game?

6. Is the game playable online?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Not sure what SOM is but it's better than ant other text based game i have played and better than The Show minus the graphics.
2. Can I create a custom league and schedule using any MLB team from any era?
Yes, although you might need some coahing on how to do this properly.
3. Can I just manage a team and not worry about the GM side of things?
Yes you can select manage only
4. Is the game pretty easy to pick up and play?
Yes and no. Start small, get your feet wet in a league before you tackle a big expansive league. Or start with the 2018 MLB quickstart and play a team you know.
5. Are there sites with player photos and ballparks to import into the game?
Add ons central in game has most of these. Mall can be found on the foirums through various links.
6. Is the game playable online?
There are online league but online like say COD no. Perfect Team looks like it is online.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

I've been playing OOTP since V 11. There is no baseball game like OOTP. Stats wise, customization, mods i have yet to see a game as good as this one.Browse through the mods forums. Silvam/ Adion have every park 1901 through today. several pre 1900 parks are available. Every uniforms from 1871 thru today is available.
I can go more in-depth on ques#2 if you'd like if you tell me more of which type of league you'd like to create.

I'm a relative OOTP rookie myself, but I've played SOM since '70, so like me, I'm sure you want player and league accuracy in your OOTP stats. With that said, I'll address question 1... The OOTP game presentation just blows SOM away, especially w/3d player animations. With SOM computer game, you are paying twice the price for ability to play a newly released season... True, meaningful upgrades to OOTP. Little to no meaningful upgrades to SOM.
As I play only single season historical replays, I'm not sure on question 2.
On question 3-- I only manage 1 team and have no GM responsibilities, but I do play in commisioner mode, which allows me to tweak remaining teams/ player strategies.
On question 4-- There is a bit of a learning curve, which I absorbed w/ version-18. It was totally worth the investment as the game, as many have stated, is addictive and I'm NOT even involved as GM/ owner... lol!
On question 5-- there are mod sites for players and ballparks w/ a direct link from the game and the forum site.
Not sure about 6, but probably so. Oh, the hardest part of "converting" 100% to OOTP, was trusting the game engine, which as you know is very transparent with SOM. With OOTP-18, I ran several sims with 1920,21,22,23,60,61,62 and am now in the last 2 weeks of '63, and I can say with complete confidence that OOTP has produced amazing results, not only on a league/ team level, but also w/ the players... Guys like Nellie Fox and Bobby Richardson, who rarely struck out, will reproduce their RL #'s. Same for the power guys like Mantle, Robinson, Aaron, Mays. And power pitchers like Maloney and Koufax will dominate hitters.
