Cannot get game to run at all

This might be a steam issue so I'll contact their message boards too.

I can't get OOTP 19, which I bought on the steam store earlier today, to run at all. It briefly says "Playing..." next to the game, occasionally says "Syncing..." and ultimately goes back to as if nothing happened. No phantom screen or program from what I can tell. Just no OOTP running. I don't play many games, but the others I do (OOTP18, Civ, etc.) are all running fine.

I have consulted the guide stickies above and believe I have tried the following:

- Disable virus scanners running in the background
- Don't have other programs open in the background
- Update your graphic card drivers (PC)
- If you are on the PC, run the game / installer as admin (right-click on icon, select run as admin)
- If you are on a Mac, please make sure you run at least OSX version 10.7 or better.

I have rebooted steam, rebooted the laptop, uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, and the second time I sent it to a different file location and that still didn't work. I don't believe I have any/many virus scanners, but the firewall is off. I have closed every program. I'm on a Mac, and am running 10.13.?.

Any suggestions would be great. Don't know if y'all burn the midnight oil but I'd love to have the game running by late tonight.

I sent a reply to your ticket but will post here as well to make sure you see it.

If you have Steam (pretty sure you have Steam iirc)or Origin and the game freezes or crashes on you at any point, try disabling the Steam or Origin overlay. That's fixed issues for a few people. We're working on a fix for this but that might help in the meantime.
