44 seasons in and the greatest (2-way) player in my league just retired

Jesse Mae was drafted with the 1st overall pick in 2033. In his greatest pitching season he amassed 20 wins before his first loss, finishing with 29 wins and 2 losses with a whip of 0.82. That same season he played fantastic defense in center field, hit 34 home runs, and amassed 6.2 WAR batting. He was traded after his age 31 season with a year left on his contract and the knowledge he was going to get 25-30m that the small market Royals just couldn't afford. It was the most difficult decision I ever made as I try to play OOTP as coldly as possible. The Yankees gave us a 1st, 2nd, and 13th pick, which is a fantastic haul playing on VH/HFP. 6 WS, 3 for us, 3 for the Yankees, 7 MVPs, 3 Cy Youngs.

In 2035 the NL adopted the DH so I went ahead and turned off the DH for the AL, mostly because I wanted Jesse to get more at-bats and I was tired of messing with the DH on a game-by-game basis just for him.

He holds the league single-season records for ERA, wins, Opponents AVG/SLG/OPS, hits allowed/9 all for that magical 2042 season. In addition, he holds the all-time league ERA average, winning percentage, Opponents SLG, and WAR for pitchers. #42 for WAR for batters. He has the overall WAR lead by 1.6 WAR over Mike Trout who amassed 139.7 to Jesse's 141.3

That makes me think of this article:

Jesse was absolutely incredible and a true joy to watch. I hope Shohei Ohtani keeps up what he's doing now because that's also pretty magical.
