Are there any actual DH's created?

I know there's been a discrete DH position in OOTP for years now, but I haven't seen it used ever, except for maybe David Ortiz last year (and after he retired, I never saw another player be labeled as such by the AI). Even the Billy Butlers of the world still have a primary fielding positioned assigned to them, even if they're awful defensively.

Is the game actually assigning DH's during player creation or player development and if not, is there a need to have that in the drop-down menus when one searches for free agents and such?

This brings up another good point.

Is there any way we can get a way to search for games played (or at bats) at DH? The only way to find out who played a lot of time at DH (for the purpose of assigning awards) at the current moment is to look at the games on one screen, then go to the fielding screen and subtract however many games they played at a position. There should be an easier way...

Plenty of DH get created. A lot of the time it'll be an OF with poor range or defensive skills, that people try to leave in the field but really shouldn't be there.

To clarify, if you look them up are they actually labeled as a DH rather than a 1B or LF? I know there are plenty of players who are terrible defensively so they end up being used almost exclusively as a DH, but I've never seen their primary position in the menu screen actually be DH.

In the end of the season when I vote on awards, I've never seen an actual "DH" in the DH position for Silver Slugger.

I know in 18 when I created a 1986 league Sam horn and Jorge Orta were both only listed as DH. They had no fielding abilities. Sam horn was released by the Bo Sox and I picked him up to see if my minors found a place for him. Due to him only being a DH the AI put him in rookie ball. I believe he got like 10 AB for 2 seasons and he got pissed and retired.

Those are real players though, I think he's saying if the game generates any DH's for the draft or IFA or whatever, to which I have never seen and I don't think that they exist

i can't say i've seen it outisde of when i 'force use as DH"

but, like others said, if their defense is really bad, they'll be the dh in all but the oddest circumstances.

other than looking at 'fielding stats' in player profile and deducting that from GS, i don't know if it lists # of games at DH... (is that listed in fielding stats of player? maybe you don't have to deduct at all.)

I mean if you want a bunch of DH you could just clone Sam horn and put them in the draft class I guess.
