Anyone else seeing that there are so few international amateur pitchers being generated each signing period? The ratio of pitchers to position players tilts in favor of position players by an extreme margin.

First and foremost, thanks for the update!

I ran a scouting report on a player whose rating decreased exponentially between the old and new versions, even though the scouting report remained consistent. When you click on the player, though, his rating is much less than the report indicates (3.5 OVR/4 POT vs. 1 OVR/1.5 POT). Is there a way to make this more consistent?

The fault here is mine; the AI changed him to a SP where his ratings were less. Sorry!

Probably not, no.

We can't get everything 100% perfect, as the ai makes its own decisions on some of this. iirc Caratini is actually rated higher but the ai is still selecting Gimenez for reasons of its own.

We can't make the ai select Caratini without either overrating him or underrating Gimenez. I would guess that in most games that ai will call up Caratini soon enough anyway.

Thanks, fixed! That was a legacy bug where we'd fixed most everyone who'd been screwed up in a db issue a few months ago, but somehow missed him!

Not sure if any more work has been done on Hicks. Last time I started a new save... he was still useless and 2 seasons on is still nowhere good enough for the MLB. Here is Baseball America today on him: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stor...-rarefied-air/

I boosted him a bit but the problem is that I think you could easily make the case that in fact he currently is not good enough for MLB.

The velocity is nice but his current performance doesn't really lead to the conclusion he knows what to do with it. His current K9 and BB9 rates are both pretty bad, 6.5 for each! Small sample size obviously, and that the Cards believe in him obviously counts for something, but nothing he's shown so far actually indicates he's a good pitcher at this point in time. For all his heat he doesn't actually K MLB batters terribly much and his control is pretty dreadful.

Still, we'll keep an eye on him for sure and if he looks better the ratings will eventually reflect that.

My major concern in OOTP19 with him and Alex Reyes is that in 2 - 3 years in all 3 saves I have done... neither player made the MLB. And for Reyes that makes even less sense to me.

That's mostly going to just be randomness though, as both have pretty nice potentials, especially Reyes. Hicks is tough to rate and his potentials are a bit low now because he still has starter stamina. If we were rating him as a RP only, I'd give his potentials a nice boost, but I don't want to do that quite yet and make it impossible to make him a starter.

Same problem as for guys like Glasnow and Gsellman right now f.e.

It's weird that Reyes wouldn't make it though, as he should be good enough for MLB already with his current ratings.

For Reyes in 2 saves he has ended up being maybe a 5th starter, but puts up some pretty awful numbers.

I believe this was done to mimic the players that get the big money on the international Free Agent Market and that the scouting discoveries will find pitchers. Based on MLB Pipelines list last year 3 of the top 30 international amateurs on there list were pitchers.

Jameson Hannah in the 2018 Amateur Draft weirdly has some minor league stats from 2008 and 2009 in his history. Not a big deal by any means, just weird! He would have been about 8 years old playing in AAA.

Thanks, fixed. There are quite a few guys like that. It comes from reusing ids of duplicate/deleted players.

Players stats display inconsistencies with games started from year to year in relationship to games played. Looked at Drury with the Yankees for example.

I don't really understand quite what you mean, sorry.

We only have games started in the db for Drury for 2016. A lot of years we just haven't added that data yet for anyone. But in 2016 he has 134 games played and 112 games started.
