Rebuilding Skins

I know in previous versions you could go to add on central and download the skin folders so you could edit them. In add on central there is a download for the skins but when I select them it says they are downloading and installing but the folders don't actually show up. Am I doing something wrong?

I had to run ootp as administrator (in Windows 10 right click ootp shortcut and pick Run as administrator) to get the skins to install.

Hmmm...Are 19 skin files, other than dark, already available through Add-On Central?

I had no problem dl the skins and installing them, but when i put the picture to replace the microphone i use every version .when i restart the game the microphone picture is still there instead of my picture like before. i deleted the skin.bin file like before, but it did not create a new one like before.. i started game as run as administer. don't know how the microphone picture shows up when it has been deleted and is not innthe folder anymore

I actually figured it out. I had to look in downloads to find the folders and run as administrator did the trick on actually changing the in game stuff. Got my Rogers sportsnet theme loaded.

Does this work with Mac as well? It didnt for OOTP 18.

EDIT: It does but some tabs disappear (because of course).

i did the same thing and still have that microphone picture witch has been gone with a picture of Curt Gowdy that doesn't show up just that microphone which is not in the folder anymore. I used run as administrator to put files in the skins folder and run as administrator to over write them also. i deleted skin.bin like befor and none was replaced in the folder like before. do i need to keep the skin.bin and not delete it?

Are you sure you are putting them in the right skin folder? Logic told me that the skin that is considered the “default” skin would be the one that was loaded by default when you install the game but it’s in fact the dark skin that is loaded. I put my creations in the default folder by accident at first.

i put it in the data/skins/ootp 19 dark/style_sets/game_screen folder or the ootp 19 or ootp 19 classic folder . im doing the same thing i did in ootp 16 ootp 17 ootp 18 and it worked. the filev i'm using is renamed to gamescreen_playbyplay_bottom_right . where did you put the picture that replaced the microphone picture did you delete the skin.bin file i put it in all three folder 19 dark and classic.

I put it in the same folder you did and yes I deleted the skin.bin file.If the microphone picture isn’t in your folder anymore than the game isn’t rebuilding the skin.bin file. I had to run the game as admin or it wouldn’t rebuild. You said you did run as admin but I can say with 100% certainty that if the microphone image isn’t in the folder but still showing up in game that the skin.bin file is not getting rebuilt. It’s impossible to have it show in game if not in the folder if the skin.bin is rebuilt

Cujomatty Thank you forall your help. For some reason it won't rebuild the skin.bin file, maybe after i update it tomorrow i might have better luck since you have to do it again after every update, The microphone picture im seeing is not the one i deleted but a black one in the game screen modern folder, after i changed that Curt Gowdy was there. but still no skin.bin file. I installed the game using run as admin deleted the microphone picture and skin.bin files using run as admin. and restarted using run as admin same as in ootp 18 . thanks so much for taking your time to help i wonder if iusing modern 3d view you must change it there in the game screen modern folder

Cujo, I re-read the posts above and got a bit confused. First, what's the name of the microphone pic and secondly, is it actually in the style sets folder and not images? That surprises me. What doesn't surprise me is that I finally need to replace that microphone.

in the Data/Skins/OOTP 19 classic or dark or just OOTP/style_sets/Game_Screen folder it is called gamescreen_playbyplay_bottom_right just make a picture of what you want and call it gamescreen_playbyplay_bottom_right, replace it there in all three if you want. if your using 3d modern view it's in game_Screen_Modern folder and is called playbyplay_background_left . make sure you make your picture the same size as the one your replacing. Also delete the skin.bin file in the main folder of the skin .classic , dark or OOTP. also you have to have skin files in place by downloading them and installing the. Last thing is start the game as Run As Admin everytime for your new picture to show up

hope that helps

Here is the file without the mic, just the background... Also an example of what you can do by adding your own image...

So cool. So talented. I’ve been trying to squeeze down that ootp_round you did for me recently, but now I think I want it on that background! Thanks, tx. I’ll have to do a bit of experimenting.

Thanks for the info, it looks like I have to us the background from TX Ranger and attempt to add my logo to it. Should the logo be placed on the background or is the logo seperate from the background?

I had the impression that as long as you renamed the original and named your logo the original’s name and size was correct (and type png) then a background wasn’t necessary.
