I've come to accept this as reality, I think I enjoy the conception and the setup and finding logos MORE than actually playig. Nice to know it's not just me.

i think i add or change somethign each year... even dabbled with a 40team league etc -- seemed to be a ton more work due to 25% more players to sift through and went back to 30T. last year i went to 3 divisions 10 teams each with balanced schedules vs divisional opponents only. schedule is custom, evened out minors while maintaining real teams and such -- 1 or 2 may be in a different level, but oh well.
structurally i don't think i can do much else to let teh cream rise to the top in the best way possible. i have imported a league from previous releases before, but never stuck with it. if i can't think of anything outside of rule changes, i can start carrying over one league and watch it run out into the 100's of years, lol. 2075 currenlty in my ootp'18 league. the first couple years i owned ootp, i would restart often... make mistakes and restart... change my mind and restart.. on and on and on. i don't think i made it past 20-30 years in any league. if your goal is a longer-term league just start refining what you want... slice down what you focus on each rendition and carry-over once that portion is refined. or, keep making new leagues if that's the most fun. there's no wrong way to do it. (well, if you read some of my posts you might say i think differently, lol) i typically run a mlb league on the side for ~20 years until the RL players are mostly gone, but my tigers haven't been interesting to me for the last 2 years.. I've been trying something new this year in that I'm managing a minor league club and don't intend to go into the majors any time soon. At least this way, I still get the fun of grumbling at the AI when they take my star hitters away from me. I find it to be a different sort of fun rather than being GM/Manager of a major league club. Not only do I have to still develop talent but I also have to win. So far, this is the game that i keep coming back to aside from my online league.

I have the same problem when I start with a historical replay ... year after year I try to play one league all the way from 1901 and another from 1969 taking over the Seattle Pilots and eventually the Brewers.
But normally it doesn't last much longer than 10 seasons. Three years ago I decided to go into fictional play and it has been a different experience. When you spent weeks to create logos, jerseys, caps and schedules it probably ties you much closer to your save than when you "only" download stuff that already has been created ... at least it has been in my case. And of course, all that work makes it much much harder to terminate such a save.

The longest one I ever did (playing every game) was on season ticket baseball when I played with the Mets and got through about five seasons. Generally I tend to end up starting a few different one's without really seeing them through. I always prefer to play out each game but the downside is it takes a long time to get through a season and my mind turns to that other thing I was going to try...
At the moment I'm playing as the current Orioles and after a five game winning streak I've got them to 17-16!! I think I should just leave it there before things turn ugly.

As I sit here and read these, it reminds me of how OOTP Baseball is like Legos, Tinker Toys or those toy construction kits. A million ways to build up and tear down something with the same items over and over and over.......

Am I the minority? I am still in my launch-day universe. Closing in on that, only because my in-game age is getting old lol, I'm thinking when I reach 85-90 I'll "retire" ... I have been thinking of what I want to do next, though.

Now that we can import and export draft classes I'll likely spend hundreds of hours creating a few and again not actually ever playing the game.

I started a 1871-1875 league. It has 16 teams from those years with an 82 game schedule. The league is split into two sub leagues each with an 8 team division. Anyways what makes this fun for me is that I manage five different teams for 10 games each. Then I choose one team to play the last 32 games with during the pennant race. It keeps me interested.
Also, in the meantime I am working on another league. This one has one sub league with 3 divisions of 7 teams. An East, Central, and West division. The East will have 7 great or decent American league teams from history. The Central will have the same amount of Negro teams. And the West National teams from history. For a start this should keep me quite busy.

Crazy
I start a fictional league, get everything set with logos, unicorns, stadiums, etc. wake up at 3 in the morning, delete the league and start all over again. It’s driving me crazy!

I wouldn't worry about it. Crazy would be to sleep soundly having left unicorns in your league !
