Aging question
Under global settings there's a section for aging. I believe that the fault setting is1.000. What does anybody know if you set it higher or lower will it slow aging down?

The lower the setting, the more slowly players will lose ratings as the age.
For the development one, the higher the number, the faster your players will develop. |

Here's the page in the online manual that explains it. It is in the middle of the page under Player Development Settings.

Just add a curiosity what do you guys normally use as your settings?

I use 0.500 for aging and 1.500 for development. I like my players to have long careers.

I make it slightly lower because I wanted guys to tail off around 34-35 instead of 32-33. If you leave it as is, barely any guys play into their 40's.
I have my aging speed at .900 and I have four or five guys that have played past 40 (although not very well, they are barely hanging on) and that's what I wanted. I'm still in the first decade of my fictional league and I wanted to have at least a decent amount of data on my first guys |

I know the tried, tested and true setting for myself is always 0.825 for batters and 0.775 for pitchers. I find it basically mimics real life a little more closely. That said I have not tested it out yet in OOTP19.
I could be wrong on this part but I also believe it works in the inverse as well, they lose skills a little slower as they age but they also gain them a little slower when young. I'd need to double check that statement though with a Developer. |

Above 1.000 speeds up aging/loss of skills.
Below 1.000 slows it down. Nothing too complicated about it really. The defaults are realistic but everyone has their own preferences. That's the beauty of OOTP though - so many options and ways to play

One thing to keep in mind with these settings - if you're slowing down aging, then speeding up development can lead to a log jam. You'll have older guys hanging around longer, so less spots opening up for your quickly developing prospects.
Like everything else, you need to keep some balance.

Great information. I had been looking at those modifiers just this past weekend but hadn’t read the manual in so long I couldn’t remember if increasing the mod sped things up or slowed them down.
