As for my alignment, yes, the Brewers belong in the AL. Also, the Astros should be in the NL. I know they won the World Series as an AL team, but they still fit better in the NL. The Nationals might be a weird fit in the AL, though I'd hope they'd be able to get the Senators name back.

Put metro area teams in the same division. Yankees and Mets. Orioles and Nationals. Cubs and White Sox. Giants and As. Dodgers and Angels. The rivalries would be great.

Here's how I expanded MLB -

No DH ever
No Interleague
1 WC Team per league

I put Milwaukee and Houston back where they belong and switched the Jays n Nats (Now Senators) for rivalry purposes. Added Charlotte, Portland, San Antonio and Vancouver (ya, they wouldn't work irl but this is my OOTP fantasy world )

Thanks for all suggestions.

After running some tests with various alignments and expansion nicknames, just to get the feel of them and to see what logos/colors, etc. appealed to me most, I actually went with the Carolina Cougars, located in Charlotte. Reviving the old ABA! I stayed with the alignment I had originally because I liked the divisional rivalries without upsetting too many old traditional locations (although I could see the point of the arguments for some other formats).

For now, anyway, the Carolina Cougars are off and running, with a pretty slick forest green and gold scheme, playing in Wells Fargo Stadium. It's also nice to see the Expos back in MLB!

Thanks again everyone!

Not agreeing or disagreeing, but why do you say they wouldn't work in real life?

Maybe they would in this day and age, but I can't see it. Basketball never worked there. Hard to say though, with the right marketing and what not an MLB Team might make it there. Vancouver just doesn't "feel" like a sports city.

They love their hockey and the BC Lions do well enough. Soccer has gotten big there so maybe Baseball would work. I believe it would take someone with deep pockets and the ability to put together a competitive team quickly.

My gut feeling is though, it wouldn't work. Canada is not huge on Baseball like the USA is. The only reason the Jays were popular the past couple seasons was because they contended. Look at the interest from fans for the years between 93 (last playoff appearance) up to 2013/14. It sucked.

I think a decent argument could be made that basketball didn't work in Vancouver, at least in part, because of having to compete for attention with hockey season. I say in part because the Canucks really weren't very good while the Grizzlies were in Vancouver, making the playoffs just twice in those 6 seasons and losing in the conference quarterfinals both times while never placing higher than 3rd in the conference.

I've read several articles about MLB expanding to Vancouver and this seems to be the consensus opinion as the most important factor for success in a market like Vancouver. It's also the other part of the reason that the Grizzlies didn't work in Vancouver. They were laughably bad all 6 seasons there, finishing with a combined record of 101-359, including an abysmal 8-42 record in the lockout shortened 98-99 season.

Probably would of helped if Bryant "Big Country" Reeves had turned into the player they had hoped he would. If I'm not mistaken (I could be, don't really follow basketball) wasn't Rahim unhappy in Van City too? or was it management he was upset with?

Anyway, MLB could work with the right ownership group I think. It's a different city now than it was back in the 90's. It's a much richer city for sure.
