Can I create a custom game using real players?

I'd like to create a fictional league (with fictional team names, like 60 teams split into 6 divisions or something like that), but I'd like to have real players in the draft pool at the beginning of the game instead of fictional ones. Is this possible? Thanks.

Yes, you can start a new MLB game, release all players into FA, delete and rename teams to your hearts content and the players will be there waiting for you. You can also delete player histories to clear away the MLB references.
If you do this I would recommend backing up often during the creation process. Maybe backup after you create each team or each division. I do not mean save, create a manual or game generated backup. It can be soul crushing to put a lot of time and creativity in a league and lose it doe to a corrupt file or another uncontrollable problem.
