May 1st 1899 Update
The first full week of the season is in the books. In the National League the Boston Beaneaters are hoping for a repeat performance. They sit at the top at 7-2. Boston is relying on the young arm of Clem Kimerer (2-1, 2.42) and was named POY last season. Charlie Geggus is 37 years old and hoping he will continue his pursuit of more wins, he is currently at 306. Over in the American League, Louisville is on a roll, continuing from last year. The Colonels are at 6-2 and hold a slim lead over Cleveland. Columbus is off to a slow start at 4-3. The Solons are picking up the pieces from their 1898 WS defeat. Meanwhile Louisville pitcher Frank Meinke (3-0, 0.00) has yet to give up an earned run. Standings ![]() Batting Stats ![]() Pitching Stats New York released James Burke at the end of last season, Burke just needs 4 wins for 400. Who will give him a shot? ![]() Washington Report Record 5-4: Tied for 3rd with Columbus. The Senators started the season off at home and were blown out by Louisville and Frank Meinke. 37 yo John Clarkson is 3-0 and has 317 career wins. There are 2 rookie pitchers on the staff this year, George Wheeler (1-2, 1.88) and Christy Mathewson. Offensively not much is happening. Ed Delahanty is hitting .267 and George Davis is .229. Bright spot in the rotation is George Van Haltren at .342, Wilbert Robertson at .303, and Joe Quinn at .300. No homers have been hit by the team yet.

May 29th 1899 Update
The season is still quite young as the leaders are looking to solidify their leads. The Senators reeled off 9 straight wins to be perched on the top of the AL. Chicago continues to hold the top spot in the NL. The Orphans are being led by Jerry Nops (8-3, 4.25). Teammate Bill Sweeney needs just 8 wins to claim the only player to win 400 games. As of yet, Wins leader James Burke is still without a team. Standings ![]() Batting Stats ![]() Pitching Stats ![]() Washington Senators Report Record 20-11: 1st Place We have started to come alive. July 24th 1899 Update
The hopes for another title are fading fast for the Washington Senators. Only 5-12 in July so far. First place Spiders are very hot since June 1st, going 29-12 during that span. Pittsburgh and Chicago are battling back and forth for the NL title. Both teams are off to a hot start in July. Standings ![]() Batting Stats ![]() Pitching Stats ![]() Washington Senators Report Record 42-33: 3rd Place 6 GB July has been a terrible month for the Senators. Christy Mathewson (12-9, 3.38) had a personal 6 game losing streak broken. John Clarkson (15-10, 3.00) is riding a 4 game losing streak. The only bright spot is Ed Delahanty's hitting, he leads the AL with his .429 BA. Mike Tiernan continues his year long slum and was benched for recent pick of Dusty Miller. Miller was traded from Brooklyn for Guy McFadden and Dave Foutz
