ootp.exe error at game screen

Just purchased OOTP5 played and exhibition game and everything went fine. Made several transacations and went to try my new look team out in another exhibition and I'm able to get all the way to the game screen. I press pitch and the game
pops up an ootp.exe error and kicks me out to my desktop.

Thought error was tied to a exhibition game, so I tried running the season and recieved the same error when trying to sim a computer controlled game or trying to play my team. The computer sim booted me out, but when I came back to the standings/schedule the game showed updated with stats.

I have a P4 2.4 ghz, 1024 ram, win 2000 with a vodoo 9700 video card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have atleast SP3 installed for Win2K?

Yes - just confirmed that sp3 is installed.

I've also tried creating a new league. I choose my team and go to exhibition game - program works fine, but after I sign my freeagent picks, move the players in transactions, set my rosters and then try a exhibition game - ootp.exe error.

How much HD space do you have?

Its a 40 gig hard drive with 35 gig available

I don't see anything obvious that would cause this problem, have you tried just uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

The error msg that comes up states that a log was created. Where is this log and what willl it tell me?

Did some troubleshooting last night.

Error only occurs when in Manager mode
1st exhibition game played works fine
2nd exhibition game gets the error - all games, exhibition or season, from this point forward get the error.

Error will not occur if I play at least 1 reqular season game before I play the 2nd exhibition game.
