Are there any photos out there of Solly Drake (88th birthday tomorrow, Oct. 23) as a 1959 Phillie?
Solly Drake was a racial pioneer and he may have had one of the toughest times of all since he played mostly in the minor leagues from 1950 to 1961 with the exceptions of 1952-1953: Military Service and his brief time in the majors: Chicago Cubs; 1956 - Partial MLB Season and 1959 with the Dodgers and Phillies - his only full season in the majors.

Something really funky about this run of ebay "My WDW planner" Reds prints. As the style and "feel" suggest and the two Mashores on page 1638 confirm, this guy's shots originate from Topps. I've seen the Mashore file at Topps (complete with that Reds shoot, which I believe dates to 1970) and seen the Fryman file (which has no '77 Reds shoot at all) so I'm mystified.

Some Topps images must have walked out somehow - somebody would've noted the Fryman either in the filing cabinet or on eBay - and suddenly reappeared. So strange.

You know what a good team player and an overall inquisitive person would do? Go back down to that Vault, armed with another list of hard to find players, and get to the bottom of it Merk!

Did I sell it too hard....?

I've had some interaction with the seller (buying some of her wartime photos and offering IDs on others)... she claims to have bought a large lot of photo prints (3,000+ items) and is definitely not making prints from digital files - I'm inclined to believe that this is the case.

The thing about the color Reds photos is, to me, the mediocre to poor resolution of the scans/prints. It's a stark contrast to the Burke & Brace b&w prints that I bought... those are, although small, quite sharp, all things considered.

I have no idea who might have snagged the originals from Topps, but I doubt that it was this eBay seller (and I know that that you were not making this accusation).
