A card not beginning to learn a position

I have the perfect Bonds card and I have played it two full games in right field, but the card itself shows no evidence that I've played him at that position once according to the defensive positions(the fielding tab on the card show evidence of it). For every other card I've taught a new position, even if it's a bad defender with poor stats, on the first game there it will show a 1, 2, 3, whatever. For some reason this card hasn't done that. Not sure if this is intended or not, I've looked around at other Bonds perfects and I've seen a few who have learned some right field.
