Speed and Lockup Issue

First, the speed issue, does anyone know what programs that could be running in the background could cuase ootp to run slow and I mean very slow as in 15-20 sec. to even click on a team and get to that teams screen from standings.

Second, A problem I also notice below but dont really see a fix for is happening to me also, we get to last game of sim day(the one where the computer saves after it is played.) and I click sim but then the game just locks up no sim score and no saving or progressing to next month. Anyone have any thoughts on either.

Computer Info: Win98, 320Meg Ram, 3-4 gig free on HD, yes it is older but is pretty much up to date diagonsticlly and maintenance wise. Anyhow if anyone has any thoughts please feel free to email b.colvin@insightbb.com or aim bfc1978 to discuss this.

Anti-virus software running can effect performance. How long are you waiting with the second issue?

Well last night one point waited 10-15 min, 2nd point waited oh 3 hours

, or as much time as it took me to go out and have a bit of fun.

Came back and it was on same point, I hit sim game on last game of that day, it asks for commish password, I put it in and it leaves the commish pass box up and freezes.

Things I have tried

efrag, Scan Disk, stopped extra prgrams from auto start such as a popup stopper program and aim. Tried reinstalling game by both doing an uninstall and deleteding the 400 software folder from program files.

Are you sure that all lineups, rotations, etc are ok? No duplicate positions, players or holes? Or that players aren't injured?

Even with injuries would the computer automatically go to depth charts. I will have to check out both teams and make sure they are totally set and ok. Is there anything else I should check?

Not that I know of, just everything I mentioned in the above post. The injury issue is more related to pitchers maybe being "day-to-day" and yet scheduled to start.
