i'd still keep it filled with a reputable person if i can. very likely a benefit for ... *something*

if he doesn't do anything and there is a benefit of some sort, you would only have to worry about reputation. if you win a lot, that comes no matter what. go cheap and long-term to save money.

or, treat it like a toy and do as you will with it since it is inconsequential.

Funny enough I was watching a tutorial yesterday where the guy said that a Assistant GN with high development rating helps develop players. Now that could be total bs but made me feel better about having one.

Assistant GM's don't have any development ratings.

Sounds like he wanted to talk about bench coach now they have development ratings

That's for setting budgets no actual development of player ratings but how much the GM will spend or allocate to that particular item.

I would love to see the role by more of Assistant. I would like to have them go look for a trade for pitching prospect. I like them as a sounding board on trades it would be nice if they role could act as an advisor.

It would be nice if they were more like the advisors in Civ games, telling you what you need to do next and giving you tips on how to improve your team. Experienced players could turn this off or dial it back to advanced tips only.

I use it as a place to stash a second scouting director (assuming he accepts the title transfer, which most will). If you have the money, it's a great place to hoard talented staff.
