Minor Leagues Not Populating In Historical Season

I am currently playing the 1983 historical season managing the Chicago White Sox. I am about 45 or so games into the season and I just played a game and clicked on "Finish Today" and was told I could not because there was a line-up error in a New York-Penn League game between Batavia and Auburn that was not allowing the day to finish. Upon review, Batavia only has six players on its active roster. I was told that I should enable "ghost players" in the Minor League Settings. First, I did not think that was possible to do once the game had started anyway. Second, neither Batavia nor Auburn is in my organization (Niagra Falls is my NYP team). Thirdly, I'm not even to the all-star break, which seems awfully early in the season for short-season minor leagues to have started (the draft hasn't been held yet for one thing); I'm trying to post my league data files as "RSFCWS83" to the FTP server, but I am typing this first. Any solutions to this would be appreciated.

ghost players being enabled is the easiest solution, and can be turned on at any time of the season. Another solution is to move players from FA, unretire players (if FA is short of players) and place them on the teams short of players. It doesn't matter if you control those teams or not. The AI sometimes does this. A lot of work went on in Beta testing to avoid this problem, but sometimes it still happens. What i'd done is to enable ghosties, get the game to advance a day or two (and fill the teams shorted) then turn them off again. It worked for me the one time i tried it. So not certain it's a viable full time fix. But you'll never be able to advance your game until you get enough players on those teams. So you need to allow ghost players or to fill them with fictional players. Good luck.
