Live start not working properly

"Live start" seems like a nifty, new (to me) feature. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work. The first time I tried, with a simple standard game, it put me in spring training. This time, again with a simple standard game, it put me on July 29 but with no stats or games played to this point.

I'm playing on Windows 10.

I got it to work when I went Advanced.
