I am glad he found a good home. Oddly enough, I traded down to 98 Jackie (not yours) to get points for another upgrade.

I upgraded my 97 Johnny Bench to the perfect version. He promptly hit a 1st inning grand slam in his first game.
How about Matty's pitching line?

I'm a wee bit ill, so I haven't been able to do much since last night, but I did manage to open a pack for the Coons. First card straightaway, a diamond. I squealed! And then… Manny Machado. With Caminiti and the SE Wright around, a third baseman was the last thing I needed...

Oh wow, when the luck pendulum swings around, I'll get swept by the WC in the playoffs.

I have been able to open a bit of a gap with a good July, but I'm not safe yet as you have a very good team. I hope you don't catch me but good luck in the wild card chase.

The Rebs sure can use this improvement… he goes to third base, Caminiti, who was the top vote getter for this league's All Star Game, goes to DH, bopping Conforto into a platoon with Giancarlo Stanton, and Joc Pederson is kicked off the roster for batting .195...

So, B'sin'Glou have been in Diamond for 10 seasons, with a worst season of 72-90 (twice) and a best season of 83-79 (twice) and generally playing between .460 and .500 ball.
Somehow this season, we are a league-best 73-34. 6 games above Pythag, but even if we were 67-40 that would still be far better at this stage of the season than any of our previous seasons in diamond. Here is how we're doing: ![]() As you can see, we've been super-lucky in extra-innings games and 1-run games. I'm fully expecting my pitching to fall off a cliff during the second half, as I do not prioritize defense in the early innings at all. The fact that the team's overall ZR is only -4.8 means this is either a league without defense or we've been incredibly lucky so far (I'm starting 69OVR 2B Rod Carew at 3B every 2nd day, where he can't even generate a rating because his arm is weaker than my grandma's, as one example). Here's my roster and lineups: ![]() ![]() Short of it: I'm enjoying the ride and I just love the fact that I keep coming back to 52OVR Kyle Wright as my 5th starter ![]()

Amazingly, my 1937 DiMaggio has now played in 46 games for me. He has put up ZERO achievements despite hitting for a .913 OPS and 146 OPS+. He is the bestest, worthless player there is.

Paragon City Heroes won 9-11 going into the all star break, then 7 of 8 coming out, and promptly went on a 5 game skid, 1 card short of Detroit Live collection to get Heilman in at DH, but meanwhile Furillo is doing pretty great at Dh. Currently 71-47 with a half game lead, and we face each other 6 times this month, going to be some huge games
Bad News Bulldogs are 2 games back (68-49) after playing sub .500 ball since the all star break, I'm not too bothered as i made some sweeping changes slowly changing them into a Reds batting lineup with Sabo, Rose , Geronimo and Concepcion, i expect they'll just kick around in bronze while i try to do pick up more Reds. my 3rd team got a name change to Neuman Furshlugginers and have been tearing the league up at 79-37 but still only a 5 1/2 game margin over an ode to Adam Dunn. Just bought in teh 89 Roger Clemens to add to the power pitching. Also brough in Tim Raines as Leadoff Hitter, he has already had 4 steals in a game twice. I'm more inclined to get live cards for these guys to replace guys like Sosa and Boog Powell, maybe even Beltre as there seems to be a lot of big bats at 3b nowadays

Doha (104-29) has clinched the division and is fighting for the #1 seed witht the Vlad News Bears (100-33) and the Orlando Shockers (102-30).
The most notable stat for the year is perfect Eckersley having a 45 save streak going, with a 0.57 ERA and not a single HR allowed all season. Great Lakes (89-44) have almost clinched the division and will most likely have the #2 seed in the playoffs. Perugia (86-47) has an 11 games lead over the Fighting Frogs and, barring a total meltdown, should win the division. We are still fighting for the #2 seed with the Werchester Wholphins (85-48).

The Mud Hens are tied for 4th from the bottom in their 1st perfect season. I noticed that they had two "upset win" achievements. Both of them were against the Raccoons (naturally!). They're also the only team to win 6 games against the Raccoons this season (6-10). Oddly, though they have many elite defenders, they're only 7th in ZR. The Raccoons have a better ZR even they're not as good defensively so I guess it's just bad luck.
As to the Raccoons... After averaging 116 W for 9 perfect seasons, they've had 104 and 111 W and are on pace for 110 W this season. I believe they're a better team than they were 3 seasons ago when they won 124 games so I'm not sure what's going on. The league this season has no whales unlike when they won 124 games, but the weaker teams seem stronger. We do have a 13.5 game lead so barring a total collapse, we'll win the division again and because of the lack of whales, our chances look better this year. Regarding upgrades... We're not weak anywhere, we're just not as strong as we could be in most positions, so it's hard to decide where to upgrade. I'm thinking of saving for an elite reliever, but I'm not sure yet nor am I sure who I want. Since I already have 99 Eck, I'll not want to get 100 Eck yet (replacing someone else will be a bigger upgrade), so I'm thinking of getting Smith. Anyone else I should consider?

I have both perfect and 99 Eck, and while the perfect version is obviously better I don't think it's worth the points for the upgrade if you already own 1. Regarding relievers in general, I think that outside of the big 3 (perfect Eck, Rivera and Smith) there are a lot of very similar players that it's hard to separate and it comes down to preference according to the different playstyles. As a side note, my most consistent reliever has been converted SP Bert Blyleven, which gets a nice boost in stuff by moving to the bullpen and is available for around 60K.

The Heroes rip off a 12 game win streak (and 17 of 19) to open up a 5 1/2 game gap over the North Laurel Whitehawks, with just 4 games left between the two, it looks like its ours to lose with 12 games against last place teams and 6 against a sub 500 team in our own division. we only have two series left vs winning teams. Acquire Heilman from the detroit live collection to replace Furillo for next season, it feels bad replacing a 100+ rbi man at this stage of the season
The Bulldogs and 1 5 and 7 game win streak including a sweep of the second place Martinsburg Blue Sox to leapfrog them and open up a 4 game gap the 5 games left against them will be huge. Bought Gary Nolan hopefully a few auctions sell so i can buy Pete Schourek.

The Colonels are among the three best teams in the league. As usual, we can't beat the good teams (combined 2-6 vs. the other two). I decided this morning that I would stop playing Twister with my infield in order to squeeze 10-15 extra defensive runs out of it, and instead I will play everyone where I want them (their historical positions) and thereby squeeze another big bat into the lineup (a DH to replace Boudreau). Whether it is better or not, it is more fun for me that way, and fun is the reason that I play this game (and spend a small fortune on it).

Haha. I think they're in different leagues, and I'd be surprised if he threw it against them!
