Question about patches

Didn't find anything on this in the manual or searching the board. I'm sure because it's a very novice question.

Played the game for years but never checked back in on patches after purchasing. I'm on a Mac. If I click on the latest patch in Marcus' post, can anyone give me the total rookie steps to installing? I'm sure it's simple, but want to make sure I don't overwrite a save or something accidentally since I haven't done it before.

Yes, the latest patch includes all previous patches; it is an all-in-one.

Yeah, I gotcha. My question is once I download the patch, will I need to save it anywhere specific etc to make sure my current saves continue, or does it just kinda do it all on its own once I download?

just download the file and extract (open) - it will load into your current game seamlessly, not affect any teams or players numbers, just update all the files to the current patch #. Markus makes that pretty clear on the patch notes. Just remember where you download it, so you can click on the .exe file and have it do it's magic.
