Historic Team Question
After all those years of heartbreak, the KC Royals have won the 2031 and 2031 World Series, and are getting set to play the Giants for the second straight year in 2032. Hoping for a three peat.
I'm still going to play several more seasons of this franchise, but eventually, want to go back and start with the 1989 Royals - the team that first made me fall in love with MLB and the Royals. Questions: 1. How many of the real draft prospects who were selected in 1990 will be there again in the June of 1990 draft? 2. Further, as the years pass, will the guys who eventually made the majors later on be in the correct draft years or is it only accurate the first year or two and made up players after that? 3. Will it automatically add the Rockies/Marlins in the correct year and the Rays in the other? 4. I'm assuming it will be the 1989 ballparks when I start - will it update to the new parks as the years pass or do the old ones stay around? 5. Are free agency salaries all VERY close (within a few hundred thousand) where you can basically get any player you want since real life salaries back then were way lower and much closer together? Thank you!!! Dave |

That was very helpful, thank you for taking the time to respond!!!
That's pretty cool that it'll have actual players in each draft class and give you the option to do the draft with them. Love that. |

The stadiums and their effects should change automatically as you progress. But if you play 3D, you have to change the model to a downloaded stadium or you get the default stadium as Da Bears mentioned.
I started my current league in 1980. I'm now in 1991. The Twins moved automatically from Metropolitan Stadium to the Metrodome in 1982, and the Blue Jays moved from Exhibition Stadium to Skydome in 1989. The White Sox moved from Comiskey Park to what is labeled "Comiskey Park" (which was I think was called New Comiskey Park then before it because U.S. Cellular Field and then the now-named Guaranteed Rate Field) in 1991. When my next season hits, the Orioles will move from Memorial Stadium to Camden Yards. With all of these moves, I have not had to change the stadium and its park effects. But for 3D play, I have had to go in and change the 3D model for each stadium. Silvam and adion created and modified a bunch of historic stadiums for 3D play, and they're outstanding. They even make park changes pretty close to real-life stadium renovations so you can download the different versions of each stadium that you need. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=287547 |

One other question. If I start in 1989, will new playoff rules and divisions automatically update around 1994 when new divisions and addition of wild cards came to be?

Yes, the playoff format will naturally evolve with your league in real time. Only caveat here is I have "Automatically expand league" and "Automatically adjust league strategy when advancing to next season" checked in settings, under league settings and historical.
You obviously have to check the first box to get expansion. I don't know if the second is required for playoffs to change as I've never tested, but it might be the case. One thing to know on this as I think you said you're relatively new - a GREAT suggestions the real vets on here make all the time is create the game you want, save a copy of it (either backup through OOTP or just copy/paste in windows explorer) and then run your sim for 5-20 years, depending on what questions you have. I personally stay away from looking at results like who won championships or my org's records as I don't want to know the future in OOTP - up to you - but you can go in and check historical accuracy, see what the playoff format is set up as now, etc. It's a great way to make sure you don't go a long way down a path in a game you care a lot about, then find out there's a hole you had no way to solve and you have to start over. |

Silvam & Adion have made all historical parks
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=287547 I'm not a fan of the logos that OOTP uses for historical sims as they get rid of the Indians & Braves real logos among others. Reds1 has a great 1969-2012 set for jerseys.. The rest are out here somewhere. Look at the mods section when you get a chance or ask someone and someone is bound to hjave it.. here is a sample of Reds 1 Royals set.I'm guess that which team you like? https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/member.php?u=2387
