exhaustion

As far as players resting, does a single pinch-hit appearance or a few pitches in an inning "ruin" that day of rest? In other words, are all playing appearances equal for how much they exhaust a player, or does it depend on how much they play.

Thanks
didn't see this in another thread, sorry if I missed.

A 5 pitch appearance obviously doesn't fatigue a reliever as much as a 30 pitch appearance would, but any game appearance means the pitcher will be more tired tomorrow than he is today.

I'm not totally sure about hitters, but I believe they can pinch-hit on their day off and still get their energy back, but any innings in the field will add fatigue, and a "half day off" by serving as DH will not work for fatigue recovery.
