Sierra Vista Continues to Lead OL S286
While the Scorpions remain on top, it seems the race is widening, with only Hooterville not having enough games left to make a run. The OL schedule seems very busy, so all teams could make a run, though some would need very prodigious streaks to get there.
In PT play, Terra Incognita suddenly became a beast, riding a 10-game win streak to the top of their lackluster division, though just a bit above .500. In the NC, Port Ruppert holds the second wild card spot, with Jefferson Valley 4 1/2 behind them. It seems unlikely that other OL teams have enough calendar left to make a serious run. All OL teams, except the Haymakers, have climbed above relegation. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 06-05-2020 at 06:19 AM. |

The Boomerangs got a nice boost last night. Finished the Astros mission which completed the AL West and the full AL missions. Bagwell, Ichiro and one other (can't recall who comes with the AL completion mission.) the Historical pack delivered a 99 Ty Cobb and a gold, that I can't remember off the top of my head. Also pulled a historical gold from the Gold pack, ended up upgrading 6 players on the roster in one fell swoop.
May end up selling Ty Cobb, but it was late so I put him on the roster for now.

D356 Update
Weston Point takes the lead in Diamond OL! Shinbone and Cary are close on their heels though.
Sorry for the late update. I spent all morning agonizing over whether or not to purchase a particular player for Annandale... it was a guy I hadn't considered before, who just showed up, and who was at a really good price. But I had to weigh him against all the other guys I've been waiting and waiting for ...plus, at the Diamond level PP are so scarce I'm a bit gunshy about spending them at all unless the player is a super upgrade. Because at the rate my team is playing it'll be like 5 weeks between upgrades. Anyway, here are the standings as of noon Friday. (as a postscript to the agonizing above... I said to myself "you need to decide in the next 5 minutes" and I didn't... I finally went back and looked one last time, around 15 minutes later... and the player had been purchased!). |

Speaking of new missions.... I feel like all I do here is come in and complain about stuff, but I am not a big fan of the "Team of the Decade" missions. The missions themselves are actually fine (though they have the issues common with all missions - not enough alternatives, using the same player multiple times in a mission, using the same player in multiple missions, using players that are already in demand in missions). But the rewards... historical packs? Now I get they can be really good, and that they sell for 10k (right?). But in completing the live missions with my clubs, neither of them got cards worth 10k out of their historical packs - in fact, I have written down that Annandale got 1 Historical gold 80 out of 2 different packs. And one of them I ended up selling for 1k because nobody wanted to buy it after multiple offerings. In fact, looking at Brigadoon's records, it seems my best pack had 3 golds and a silver in it - total "worth" was close to 10k. So the odds are that you complete one of these missions (spending a lot) and end up with 10k worth of historical cards (most of which you'd probably sell).
I guess one way of looking at it is that you spend ... I dunno... 40k on a mission and end up with maybe a 10k rebate (from cards you sell in the AH because they were not good enough to use). With a chance to hit the jackpot. Of course my understanding is that you would only be doing these if you're working towards the MVP of the Decade mission, which rewards a pretty good card (results may vary!). But these missions are like many of the other non-Live missions in that the individual cards end up being priced in such a way that it's not worth getting the rewards that way (unless you plan on using some of the collection cards). The reward cards are pretty good though. Also, Stanley!! Your ship has arrived. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but IMHO the Mays SE card looks very usable to me - 114/88/106 in LF/CF/RF and a pretty good bat. In my batter evaluation spreadsheet I rank him near the top of "all blue" outfielders. I know the price is all over the map right now since the card just came out, but my estimation is that the card is worth in the low 30k (I see the floor on the card at about 29k since it’s a 100, and the ceiling at around 40k - I have him ranked above the 95 OVR Dwight Evans, which is a 30k card, and below the 100 OVR Fred Lynn, which is a 39k card). So I suspect he will end up going for 33-34k. All those auctions asking for outrageous amounts will end and I am sure the card will eventually be offered in that price range. So if you wanted an "affordable" Willie, I think that's your guy. Last edited by Charlatan; 06-05-2020 at 01:44 PM. |

Thanks for the tip! I haven't been trolling for Willie for a couple of weeks. One of my teams pulled a 97 Jorge Posada, which might get me a start on gathering the cash. I've been playing him, but I'd just as soon put Gedman back in, who I liked better when they played, although Posada was okay for a Yankee. You hear a yell this wseekend, you'll know I struck gold. |

AND...if you have any intentions of going after the Live missions, go NOW to the Name Game missions and try to get some of the Live cards while they're still relatively low. Some have already skyrocketed in price and will have to settle before they come back to reasonable prices. But I was able to grab a couple cards for Live mission I hadn't started yet before while they were still at pre-Name Game prices.

Gold
Krikkit takes the top spot heading into September. The War Robots have finished their OL schedule for the season and will now just be scoreboard watching. Palolo has just enough games left to grab the crown, 13. They need to win them all to grab the top spot.
In Gold play Norwood holds a two game lead over the Puppies in the NC East and Krikkit is trailing the second wildcard be a half game. Those are the only OL teams in contention for the post season. NC Standings below-not bothering with the AC where Coney Island sits as the lone OL team they are 67-66 and 10.5 back in the WC |

A little shot in the arm in this week for Coney Island from packs won in tournaments. Earlier in the week we pulled a Gold Negro League Star Slim Jones that sold for 26K and just now pulled in a Diamond George Kell if he sells at his seven day average it will add another 30K to the Warriors bankroll. Not like pulling a perfect but a boost to the wallet the team needed.

Just curious, how have the packs from tourneys been running for you? They still seem to go hot and cold for me, although the last two weeks, with working from home, I am saving them to open, so I have a decent amount that I'll get to after I post the standings. I guess the hot and cold thing is a function of the teams being so close in talent. |

Rebels Claim Lead in OL S286
Jefferson Valley rode its dominance of Port Ruppert to the top of the standings. There are, however, a lot of OL games left, with the Rebels having a particularly heavy schedule. They can take comfort in seeing the Mundys five times. The contenders play each other enough that there could be some serious scrambling in the chase for the crown. Hooterville, Terra Incognita, and Transylvania will not be in the hunt. Of the rest, Port Ruppert faces the most daunting task, with only the five against Jefferson Valley to play. Left Coast, Sierra Vista, and Waffletown could each easily ride a hot streak to the crown.
In PT play, Terra Incognita leads the mediocre AC East, with little likelihood of a wild card spot if they slip out of first. In the NC, Port Ruppert leads the second wild card spot by 5 games over the Rebels, but check the schedule above to see how Jefferson Valley could easily overcome. In the NC West, Left Coast is in a similar position to the Rustlers, trailing the division leader by only 1 game in the loss column, but not really in contention for a wild card spot if they don't win it. |

D356 Standings
Shinbone takes lead in Diamond
Thanks to some strategical play (playing no OL games last month) Shinbone pulled into the Diamond OL lead with one month to go. Shinbone has no OL games left so all they can do is watch the final month unfold. Weston Pointe has 9 OL games left (7 vs Highland and 2 vs Annandale) - if they win 7 of them they'll take the crown. Annandale is currently in 3rd place but if they win 5 of their remaining 6 OL games then they'd take first place. So the crown is still very much in play. Willie On the Way
I still haven't pulled Port Ruppert's tourney packs this week, but the Asylum Keepers took the lead in the let's get a Willie sweepstakes, pulling, a few minutes ago a 100 King Kelly. I put him up at an inflated price in case a hungry whale wants him for the stretch. I have stuff to do today, so maybe tonight, unless I hook a whale, I'll take a look at a price that'll go quick enough to get the points sometime Sunday. I think I could be looking at like 400,000. Wow!
My goodness, a crown for Port Ruppert, and Willie on the way, just turned this PT version into all gravy for me. If you told me I'd end up here, I'd have been happy. Perfection would be Port Ruppert pulling a card that will let them afford Willie, since he'll only be on one roster. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 06-06-2020 at 08:59 AM. |

I208 Report
Ft. Huachuca is still in the lead, but they are looking over their Soldier shoulders as league play begins. The Buffalo Soldiers still have 10 OL games remaining on the schedule and open the morning with a huge 4-game series against rival Hartford.
K-Town has emerged as a statistical challenger. Their morning begins with their final OL series of the season against sole opponent Otonokizaka. If the Rock Piles have finally figured out the Muse' number (it's 40, by the way), they might find a path to the title. In non-OL news, only K-Town is currently in a playoff position, sitting on top of the NC West. Cochise County is currently in a relegation spot. |

Poorly worded question on my part. I was thinking in terms of numbers of packs. I don't know what's a good haul, but I've been okay with it lately. Today was almost 40 for the three teams. Seems pretty good to me for just checking in for 5 minutes or so ever 2-3 hours. Saving them until the end of the week has been nice. Makes it seem like a bunch. It just seems that they go in spurts, like 5 or 6 today, then nothing. |

I need some advice, because I can't seem to win a tournament for nothing, and my challenge packs have been almost completely lackluster. It seems like all of you jokers have been having awesome pack luck recently. I feel left out!

Not sure it's the key, but...
My own bias is toward non-live cards if they are similar to the live card. First thing I did when I decided to give tourneys a try was to let each of my teams specialize in a particular type, Port Ruppert - iron, Asylum - silver, and Terra Incognita - bronze. I did that so I could keep live cards of only one type for simplicity, and to sell off the live cards, since missions make my head hurt. I admire you guys who can keep track of them. The separation was mainly because, at the time, Asylum had a lot of live silver, and Port Ruppert had a Newcombe. I don't mess with the line-ups much anymore, except when the servers have a brain fart and don't find the default roster. Then I just make the lineup with the AI and tweak it to my liking. In the beginning, I would once in awhile check the AH house by card value to see if I could find a nice silver, bronze, or even iron at a good price, but I haven't done that for weeks. Like I said, the last two weeks, with working from home, I have been saving my packs to open on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It doesn't help the teams improve during the week, but it's what I have time for. The past two weeks I got like 30 and 37, which seems pretty good to me for the effort I put in.
I wish I could get back to my challenge mode game. I have about 30 seasons in on the Boston Braves, now in Atlanta. That reliably threw a pack every couple of days, and it was fun because I was actually playing the game, simming most of the games, but playing an occasional Series or playoff game. It seems to me that challenge packs are mostly for time you put in, not achievements. I've had World Series winners get nothing and teams that miss the playoffs get a pack. I tried the '27 Yankee thing once, but it got old fast. I find it fun to make trades, etc. Oh wait, I can't play that game because it's on my PC. I wonder if they'll ever get it fixed. I do the same thing with my tourneys. Bombers run Irons, Rangers run Bronze, Defenders run golds. Best way to to do it, imo, but that doesn't mean it's right for everyone.
Also, it looks like the Rangers will be coming back down to Diamond, unless something crazy happens. As of writing this, they are now 9 back of the wild card. I started to move a few pieces in hopes to rebuild for Diamond for next week. It was a good season though. Currently sitting 66-75 in Perfect, which I think is an achievement. My other non-OL team in Perfect didn't do so well...and I'll leave it at that. The Bombers however, have a 1/2 game lead on the division, but 2nd place is 2 games back of the wild card, so that'll be close. On them though, I've went ahead and made sure everyone was added, and set it to friends list, in preparation for next week.
