Finally Welcoming The Seattle Kraken
My Notes:
Surprised not more trends have been started here for the Krakens, but I guess i'll begin it. I am a huge fan of starting from scratch and making my own legacy with a team. I also like taking control of teams that haven't won a cup, so this works out perfect for me. I hope I enjoy it, and you guys enjoy it too! If at anytime there is something you'd like to know from the game, see from the game and etc that I haven't posted, don't hesitate to ask! Anyways again, I hope you enjoy. Obviously with life and what not, this will have days where I bang out a lot on certain days and other days I may take longer. |

2021 - 2022 Offseason - A Look into the Free Agents The Top 5 Players (Per Position) available this off season may surprise you, as they do me. I am assuming Financial issues with the teams may have been a factor or maybe it was time to move on and test the market. Either way these are your 10 top avail players (By Ability) 1. Alex Ovechkin, Age: 35, Left Winger Note Alex has spent his 16 NHL Years with the Washington Capitals which is a huge surprise to see him in the market. He also finished the 2020-2021 season with a career high 68 Goals and 115 Points. In 11 Playoff games last season he had 4 Goals, 4 Assists for 8 points in 11 post season games (eliminated in the second round in 5 games vs the CBJ). Notable Honors: Jaden Schwartz, Brandon Saad, Jujhar Kaira 2. David Rittich, Age: 28, Goalie After an early exit from the playoffs this post season (Lost in Game 5 vs EDM) It may not be a surprise to people that one of the goalies had to go in CGY. The thing here is their is no Cam Talbot there, so Rittich would have been a no brainer to sign with his 42-29-3 record last season, with a 2.74 GAA and 9.14 SV%. Though it seasons CGY is going another route with their Prospect from the KHL Pyotr Kochetkov potentially getting the start and Jon Gillies as his backup. Notable Honors: Frederik Andersen, Petr Mrazek, Phillipp Grubauer 3. Dougie Hamilton, Age:28, Defence Dougie has been a pretty loyal player to the teams he gets to stick with having been with only 3 teams in 9 seasons (Boston 3yrs. Calgary 3 Years and now the past 3 seasons with Carolina). He had his second best season with career highs in goals: 20 and points: 53 this past season with the Hurricanes. They haven't made the playoffs since the 2018/2019 season, so I can see making adjustments maybe needed here. Notable Honors: Adam Larsson, Jeff Petry, Brad Hunt 4. Ryan Dzingel, Age: 29, Right Winger Dzingel has speed, handles the puck well and has a great offensive read. That being said he hasn't really met up with expectations of him. He had an average season with Carolina last season, posting 38 points in 81 games (15 goals, 23 assists). He'd be a decent 3rd or 4th line player depending on the depth of the roster he ends up with. Notable Honors: Jordan Martinook, Cole Bardreau, Tayler Beck 5. Paul Stastny, Age: 35, Center Stastny has been plagued with injury problems over his career having only 2 seasons where he made it to the 80 games range (2006, 2009) Last season with the Vegas Golden Nights was no different as he only played in 63 games, but recorded one of his better seasons with 14 goals, 38 assists for 52 points. They didn't make the playoffs for the 3rd straight year, so understandably you can understand from the Knights view it was time to make a change. Notable Honors: Teddy Blueger, Luke Glendening, Vadim Shipachyov AHL Affiliate Logo: Last edited by TBiz; 08-16-2020 at 02:50 PM. |

July.2.2021 - Before The Look of the Draft:
Obviously seeing Alex Ovenchkin in the Free Agents sweepstakes, The The Seattle Kraken had to take a try for his services and to our luck (Assuming the steep amount he wanted and years for it) He decided his new journey was to be the first ever signed player to the Seattle Kraken! The terms were agreed on a 1 Year, 10.3M Contract. The expectations of a short term contract was expected, but even for a player like Ovenchkin 10.3M may hurt us going into the Expansion Draft, so we will have to keep an eye on expenses going into this one. In the end, Ovenchkin has proven he still has alot to offer and will be a good offensive threat and leader for the coming of players from the draft! |

Expansion Draft Day
As we mentioned, we would have to get creative with our signings as we didn't want to get to a point where we wouldn't have any wiggle room to sign players from the free agents. That being said here is the contracts we go into the 2021-2022 first season with (Kasperi Kapanen) is the 25th player that didnt make the list cut off from the image |

July.3.2021 - Movements
We wasted little time trying to remove some cap space, as we were floating at 85m with the salary only being allowed to be 89M First we shopped Bryan Rust, as he only has 1 year left on his contract and we expect he's going to want a raise with his past accomplishments and his career high 64 points last season. We had hits from 8 teams. Teams including Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington and etc. We decided to accept the offer from the San Jose Sharks, 24YR Centre, Jayden Halbgewachs He has a career defying season with the SJB of the AHL, posting 32 points in 64 games (11 Goals, 32 Assists). With a cap hit of 700K it made a lot of sense to take on the young two-way forward. |

Just an FYI, if I understand what is happening correctly. The cap is inflated for the offseason by around 10%. If that is right, then what you're seeing at 89 mil is temporary, and the cap will revert to 81.5 (unless you set it July 1 to be higher) once the season begins. EDIT: Also, perhaps you knew that. I was just trying to be helpful in case you got to a place where you needed to be under a certain number but were not.

July 3: End of Day Movement:
After moving Bryan Rust out through a trade to make some cap space and which also made room to put Kasperi Kapanen into the lineup, we were going to call it a day, until we got some inquires about Jon Marchessault. Arizona offered up Christian Dvorak which was an close bite, but we went on to accept the offer of the Los Angeles. As we said farewell to Jon, in return we were getting a 4th Rd Pick in the 2022 Entry Draft and Young two way player Carl Grundstrom. Grundstrom has played most of his young career in the AHL with the Ontario Reign and Toronto Marlies. in 2018/2019 he played 15 games with the LA Kings where he posted 5 goals and 1 assist. This move gives us a young star that has proven he can score goals when given the chance. It also allowed us to free up some more space to ensure the future is bright for us moving forward. WELCOMING CARL GUNDSTROM TO SEATTLE! |
