I doubt it's a huge factor, but if it makes players more confident and therefore more likely to just make contact with the ball, I'm for it.
To me it's interesting how whenever a player tried to cite a number about what was changing they were just downright wrong lol. groundball hit rate is actually the same. 2-0 fastball rate hasn't changed. runs aren't down.

At the end of the day we are still seeing a similar number of runs scored per game so its hard to make the case that one side is way out of balance. Id like to see if we could get there with reduced strikeouts but then something has to give from the offensive side too.

Friendly reminder that the linked article is three years old, before the most recent rocketball explosion. What *is* the % of plate appearances not resulting in a bomb, walk, or K in 2020?

Regarding pitchers per at-bat - it sure feels like more than it actually has changed. I checked that recently as well as I could, and the difference since I have been watching is roughly .2 pitches per at-bat more. I would have bet my right arm that it was in the vicinity of .5 pitches per at-bat more.
