A Dry Spell
I've lost 9 of the last 11, but still hold a 12 game lead with a magic number of 13.

Better luck than me this week. I started out pretty much in control of my division, but by Thursday another team in it had upgraded their roster and went on a 14 game winning streak and now I sit 7 1/2 games out of first. Doesn't help when they hit their winning streak I played a stretch of games against the top teams in the league.

I did something counter-intuitive yesterday, but it makes perfect sense. I tied up a tournament slot for 5 days for a 128 to 1 chance to win Schoolboy Rowe. The alternative is to win packs in quick tournaments. Let's say the opportunity cost is 20 packs (optimistic). What are my chances of pulling a card like that in 20 packs? Many thousands to 1.

The Seawolves managed to win their division this season. The only major addition this week was to have a true closer and that closer is FOTF Feller. That overall Stuff rating 178 is just striking out players late in the game and is helping with the one run W-L.
This will be the 15th Diamond playoff appearance for the Seawolves. Hopefully they can improve from the last 14? Home field might help? We are currently holding a 2 1/2 game lead for the best record in the conference.

For the 3rd week in a row, the Magpies won over 100 games and also get swept in the final series. This time it is against our possible LCS opponent. Since there were only 10 teams in the conference, we played each one 18 times and the only 2 season series that I lost were against the two teams in the other division series. To improve my chances, I shelled out a record sum for a single player to sign FACE Walter Johnson. Meanwhile, our immediate division series opponent is a team we beat handily 14 times. My best pitcher was Tom Seaver 24-5, 3.58 ERA, so he gets the game 1 (and possible game 5) start.

What started out as a week in which the Justice were the favorites to win their division, ended with disappointing 83 wins and 5 games behind the division winner. Everything was going just fine as the Justice sat in first place until a very rough July in which the Justice went 7-17 during the same month the eventual division winner went 17-8. Hope rose for a possible comeback with 2 weeks left to go in September when the Justice trailed by just 3 1/2 games, but it was not to be. Consistent pitching still is an issue but by this time next week, most Diamond level league managers will be able to have a better grasp on lineup and pitching needs and strategy as more teams at that level fill out their rosters with the latest FOTF cards acquired via AH and Missions.

The Clouds did the virtually impossible and WON their division in the Bronze league.
![]() The Clouds also had a game, where they scored 17 (!) runs in the 11th inning. I mean, why not? Right? ![]() On to the next disappointing post-season. I am just curious, if another team will overtake me in the race for the promotion. It would be mind boggling to me, that the Clouds have a realistic chance of being promoted to the silver league,

- As noted earlier, turned a #1 seed into a 3-1 Division Series loss. - Hosted the Wild Card game, won it, and then got swept in the Division Series. - Hosted the Wild Card game and lost. - Hosted the Wild Card game and lost. - Hosted the Wild Card game and lost. - (This season) Finally won a division title again, and promptly turned the #1 seed and #1 offense in the league into a 2-0 deficit in the Division Series, scoring 1 lone run in each loss. To those keeping track at home, that translates to an 8-game playoff losing streak (and 2-11 overall when factoring in the original 3-1 Division Series loss). On the bright (?) side, we did finally break that losing streak and avoid the sweep by winning game 3, but only because the Red Raiders managed to string together a 2-run 9th-inning comeback. Not optimistic about game 4. So, to whichever OOTP deity I offended with my competitive level post many weeks back, I throw myself on your mercy. I have learned! I am humbled! EDIT: And the Red Raiders promptly lost game 4 and are out of the playoffs again. So that's 3-12 in the playoffs since the infamous post. Contemplating changing my team name to the Huntley Minnesota Twins...

![]() ![]() This was a hard series to lose. This is the type of series that make you want to quit.

The Magpies kicked off their postseason with this doozy of a loss
But recovery was more or less swift as they won the series 3 games to 2. Optimism reached fever pitch after sweeping their way into the finals 4 games to 0. Then all hopes were cruelly dashed, 4 games to 0. |

Started three new teams last week to relieve the fun of early team-building, and ended up in R.257 this week (2049). What a joke. There are at least four teams actively tanking using crap SPs coupled with short bullpens. Three of those teams include two non-pitchers in the pen, and all of them are using extremely limited pitch counts for their "starters". And of course, the outfields are all stocked with diamond and perfect level players. I'd love to know the PP generated, and whether or not these teams are all friends with one another to help pass those sweet, sweet PPs around.
I have reported them all, but I've seen no change to any lineups. Not sure I really expect to, either, but it would be nice... |

After the first day of 2049, I thought there would be 6 teams fighting for 5 spots, but the 6th team has dropped off and it wasn't me! Instead, I actually rolled into first place with a hot streak culminated by sweeping the early leader in a 3 game series late last night after being behind by 4-5 games all week. Then, blew my advantage by losing 3 in a row to the worst team in the league, although as of this moment I'm still 3.5 games on top.

The Justice finished with 91 wins and came painfully close to earning a wildcard birth at 1 game behind, but alas no dice. The Justice did end up posting winning records in every month this season but inconsistent starting pitching was a factor. I was able to grab a FOTF Tom Seaver but he went 1-5 in his first 8 starts before starting to right the ship. I sold off my non-FOTF Seaver and just picked up a FOTF Griffey this morning to solidify my OF defense and to provide a little more help against right handed pitchers. Don't get me wrong though, Griffey was added because of his defense so I can better baseline my pitching staff now that I have a solid core of defensive/offensive OF's in FOTF DiMaggio in LF, FOTF Griffey CF and FOTF Kaline in RF. I have some infield tinkering to do now that I have some additional seasons of post release of all FOTF card data to review, but as an FTP guy, any points I have for improvement will only be able to come from selling off the couple of cards that will get little playing time and from my 200 packs I will be opening up in the next couple of weeks (100 this Tuesday and the other 100 the week after). I would like to grab at least 1 dominant stopper and another high quality starting pitcher if I could.
