Can I hire specific coaches? e.g. Defense?

Just completed first season as noob playing as GM/HC in Chance Liga. Not bad first season: top 8 of league, 2 of leagues top rookies of year, but lost in quarterfinals (swept). My team gives up 40-50 shots/game while managing 16-24 shots, often outshot 2:1. My defense needs support, but notice my assistant’s ratings aren’t that great on defense. He’s okay on offense, but never like his lines ups. Can I hire just a defense coach without having to fire my assistant who fills offense, defense, and skills coaching roles?

Yep. Just hire an assitant from teh free agents list who has teh skills you want and set him to the role you want.
