The men from Y, Alaska

Does anyone know why all of the Americans in my save are listed as being from Y, Alaska? For the record, my game's region is Canada + Alaska. There are also a lot of players (a couple dozen in an 8 team league) from "Sunnyvale Trailer Park, NS". Any thoughts?

Believe it or not, there is actually a place called Y, Alaska.

Evidently, there is a Census-Designated Place (CDP) in Alaska that was formerly known as "Y" because there was a prominent y-shaped intersection right in the middle of it. That CDP is now known as Susitna North, so OOTP needs to update that.

Definitely did not make the Trailer Park Boys connection, good catch.

That's all fine and dandy that Y, Alaska exists but that doesn't explain why so many players (every single American player) is from there!

Not sure. It may have something to do with the fact that the entry for Y in the world_default.xml file doesn't follow the normal formatting. It looks like this:

Name: Y Alaska.jpg
Views: 308
Size: 65.2 KB

So Y doesn't have an abbreviation (which makes sense - a three-letter abbreviation for Y would be longer than the name that's being abbreviated, which kinda' defeats the purpose). I don't know how OOTP distributes birthplaces, but maybe the logic is getting stuck on the Y entry because of this formatting issue.

Probably more likely that its lat and long are 0. There are some checks to generate players from cities close to schools, so I could see that screw up somehow

Here's the line in world_default.xml that I edited in order to ward off an attack of the Y-men.
