Anybody else try the Raisel Iglesias trade to see what happens?
So, clicked commish mode, took over the Angels, and offered Noe Ramirez and Leonardo Rivas to the Reds for Iglesias. Big surprise, even with trading turned all the way down to “very easy,” the Reds GM (correctly, haha) called the trade a joke. After forcing the trade (hey, it really DID happen O_O), the news article had me in stitches, stating, “the trade left everybody scratching their heads.”
HAHAHAHA! I love this game

As a side note, I am utterly perplexed by the Reds’ offseason salary dumping. They did a great job putting together a team, and just needed maybe a piece or two, but instead they’re blowing it up. Covid economics, I guess?

Well
This website https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trade-simulator/ which is fun, not gospel has the Reds winning the trade My, super quick, analysis: Iglesias has a ZiPS protection of 1.2 WAR for 2020 https://blogs.fangraphs.com/zips-202...ncinnati-reds/ Is signed for $9.25 million in 2021 and then is a free agent https://www.rotoworld.com/baseball/m...esias/contract Finances are a bit screwy right now but one WAR has been worth about $9 million https://www.fangraphs.com/players/ra...ats?position=P Iglesias is about a break even asset. So, immediately, we wouldn't expect much return for him. FanGraphs gave Rivas a 40 future value grade and their estimate of the value of such a player is $2 million https://blogs.fangraphs.com/putting-...e-the-top-100/ Ramirez, his ZiPS projection looks like it got lost in the shuffle, has a Steamer projection of .1 WAR/60 innings for 2021 and has produced .4 WAR in 211 innings. He has three more seasons until free agency. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/no...ats?position=P So, the Reds didn't get much. As would be expected. If they don't expect to contend, then getting a major league reliever and an infielder who might do something in the majors in a few years for Iglesias while saving some money is probably about all they could expect. |

So, as somebody who is a Reds fan and usally plays as the Reds, lemme tell ya about Iglesias in the game:
Don't trade for him. He's a headache and Mitch Williams like if you play every game and do not sim them. If you attempt to make him a starter, he has some catastrophic arm injury that ends his career or sets him back.
