Specialist RP’s

With the 3 batter rule, does the RHP and LHP specialist roles have any value? Does anyone use these? I would think it would have no effect with the new rule. I have a sick RP but he sucks so bad vs left handed hitters that I just don’t think I can use him.

You could always have him come in with 2 out. Then he only faces 1 batter if he does his job. Or 1 out and ibb a hitter he doesn't have a platoon advantage around.

That makes sense, but can I trust the bench coach to use him that way if I set him to Righty Specialist?

Because
1) you and the bench coach might not agree on what "the right way" is
2) It's AI

So essentially the Right and Left Specialist roles are useless?

No. I have no problems with them. But I never play 2020 or later.

Y'know the game covers a lot of situations. People play it differently.

Although I don't play 2020 and beyond, I don't see that the three batter rule makes a specialist useless.

Often each additional batter faced would be less dangerous. And he may still have the hand advantage over the additional batters. Even if not it may still make sense to bring in the specialist to try to get an out on the toughest batter.

I'm the commissioner of my league and I did not approve that change and I changed the setting accordingly. In my world quality of the MLB does mean more than saving time to speed up the games. One of the most ridiculous changes they made. Just my opinion.

My Commissioner didn't approve the DH. Or Wild Cards.
