If the .lg folder is in the wrong saved game folder: - right click on the .lg folder that you showed in the screenshot and click on copy - open your saved_games folder. You can find it in the Settings dialog->Troubleshooting tab->Open folder which contains saved games. - right click into the saved games folder then click on "Paste item" to insert the .lg folder which you copied in step 1 |

I've often wondered why Out of the Park Developments chooses to store save games inside "Application Support" in the first place.
"Application Support" is intended to be the storage location for files that are silently managed by applications. That's why Apple went to the step of even hiding the "Library" directory from people by default. It's a security thing. Given that OOTP's save game files need to be manipulated by users, both for import between versions, as well as customization (adding images, etc.), it seems like the proper place for these files would be inside "Documents", which is where applications are encouraged to store files that users will modify. With Catalina's increased security and permissions scheme, this does mean that users would be prompted to give OOTP permission to write files there once on startup, but I think that this inconvenience would be outweighed by having OOTP's saved games in a file system location that everyone can easily access. Also, rather than hard-coding where OOTP's saved games are, we could choose any location we want. |

This is not working as described. OOTP has lost the path to the lg file in each of the past two sims in our league. The lg file is exactly where you describe, but OOTP cannot find it. In exactly the same saved-games folder, if you delete the lg folder and copy back exactly the same lg folder, OOTP then finds it. What the heck?

Please help. My league won't load or show up. It's still in the saved_games folder, I can't get it working. There's 2 other leagues that show up, but the one that I've actually spent months playing won't open today. It was working fine yesterday.

I had this issue and solved it, except that my saved game now can't find historical database files.

Which you can find by going to settings > troubleshooting > open saved game files directory. Once they are put in that directory, then that should get around the sandbox limitations and let the game read the old saves.

Is there any way to import old saves into OOTP 21 with the new sandbox environment from the game?

Sure, but you'd just need to first move the old save into one of the folders OOTP 21 recognizes within the sandbox structure (like the saved games folder) and import from there.

Can I ask why the decision was made to also sandbox the stand-alone app. I get having to do that for the MAS version as its a requirement to sell there. Someone I know with the Steam version doesn't have the issue when trying to import games of it being sandboxed.

I believe it's exactly the same on Steam though, so I'm not really sure that info you're getting is totally correct, or if it is, there might be something specific about his system's setup or where he's put his files that's different from the default.

This is a hot mess and not in a good way!!!
For the record, all of my versions of OOTP, starting with 19 have been purchased from their Store. My OOTP 22 Key is waiting in my Mail Archive collecting dust because this problem has to be dealt with by me first. I feel that because Mac users are in the minority group of OOTP Users here our problems aren't taken as seriously as those voiced by others; "Want a better, more-stable OOTP game to play? Buy a PC!" Let me ask other Mac Users this question: Did you have to go through a "workaround" process, supplied via email by an Administration Member, after some of the Hotfix's were dowloaded and applied to your Game? Remember, you'd get a window popup advising that you had to contact the Developer because the "Pass" process hadn't been completed by the App Store? The first time it happened I thought to myself, "This isn't right. There's a protocol system put in place by Apple for a specific reason that's being circumvented by OOTP!". I didn't consider or foresee what problems lie ahead until I updated OOTP XX to OOTP 21 and found that pervious games from as far back as OOTP 19 were missing. I have a suspicion that is where the problems first started and then were compounded from there, instead of being dealt with immediately by "The Powers That Be". By the way, this "Oh, what you're looking for is in a Folder, you just have to find it" nonsense is getting pretty stale. This shouldn't have to be turned into an Easter Egg Hunt! A well thought out step-by-step plan by the OOTP Developers should have been in place from the very start. It was not, is not and, if my speculative instincts prove to be correct... will not! In the immortal words of Judge Judith Sheindlin: "Don't p*** on my leg and tell me it's raining". |

Luckily I have saved each and every one of my previous releases, OOTP 19, OOTP XX and OOTP 21.
My issue at hand and current goal is moving the "Games" from OOTP XX into OOTP. These are the steps to get to that point (I think): Stage 1 1) open OOTP XX 2) dismiss "Getting Started” window. 3) click “Load Game” 4) choose a Game, in this particular case, “19xx Replay" 5) click “Open Folder” 6) click on the first line of the contents of the Folder 19xx Replay.lg 7) click on the first line in that Folder, which turns blue 8) move down to the last line of the folder, in this case “world.dat”, and simultaneously click both “Shift” and “world.dat”, which turns all of the Documents and Folders in the “19xx Replay.lg” Folder blue. At this point, I got nothin’. What do I do next? |
