Problem playing historical

I play historical but am unable to let the computer control trades as they are always trading players who are at the end of the road for young upcoming
stars. Example i just received a 36 year old over the hill player for a young Roy Halladay. Even if I mark a player as untouchable the computer manager will trade him. Any ideas other than reversing the trades that are made. I love historical but cant stand the computer trades...Thanks in advance.

Did this trade occur at the trade deadline? Was your team in "win now" mode? If so, this is OOTP's way of simulating the 1987 Tiger trade of young Smoltz for Doyle Alexander.
