Sadness in the Cobb household today...
A bittersweet personal moment as I cracked open the case of my 2006 20" iMac—the machine I discovered OOTP on, and confirmed my worst fears. In the immortal words of Dr. Leonard McCoy, "He's dead, Jim." The cause of death was cancer of the motherboard.
iMac 2006 is survived by his closest family: 2 IIgs's, a Quadra 660av, a Blueberry iMac, an eMac, 2 Titanium Laptops, a 27" 2011 iMac, and a MacBook Pro. H was preceded in death by a SuperMac Umax Clone and a IIsi. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you curse Bill Gates under your breath and savor a healthy shot of Crown Royal on the rocks, if able.
iMac 2006 was an organ donor, so I salvaged the 320GB drive, the 1GB of removable RAM, and shed a tear. A drive shoe and a craigslist anonymous pickup will carry his memory forward. Go with Jobs, old friend...
