If anything, your argument is not really based on the AI being 'wrong', but on Betances being overrated in the roster set and/or Bauer and Altuve being underrated.

Which is fine, everyone can have their own opinion on that, but in the end it's just an opinion and you'll likely find as many folks to disagree as agree.

And since the ratings are primarily based on ZIPS, that factors into the ratings far more than anyone's 'opinion'.

Now, even so, you can realistically make a case we should've discounted ZIPS Betances projections even more based on what he's shown this year so far, and that is something we will review as we get closer to OD and have more data to factor into things.

So if he doesn't show signs of bouncing back soon, he'll likely get downgraded enough that this trade won't be possible a patch or two in. But we're not eager to overrule the ZIPS projections until we have enough data to feel comfortable to make that call.

Just first impressions from install... Much faster install than previous. Much faster new league setup. I love the refined UI so far.

Obviously I have some issues with the rosters (Matt Carpenter has no skills at 2B, etc), but that's to be expected.

I just picked up the game and will post my impressions here:

-So far the game seems better than OOTP 21. The ballparks do look considerably better and so does the animation quality as well as the player models.
-The loading times are a LOT faster for me. It could be because it's 64 bit, but either way, they are much faster than OOTP 21.
-Perfect Team looks pretty much the same. That's not a big factor for me.
-I like the tab look that the game has. The classic view looks good and it's easy on my eyes (for now, at least).

Overall, the game is great and if you haven't already, pre-order it.

Like, you have mentioned Myers multiple times - other than some sentimental attachment, Myers is definitely a guy who is kind of marginalized on their team who I think they would absolutely deal for bullpen help. The other cases of Altuve or Bauer should probably be held onto more by the AI there, I'd agree, and we will keep looking for ways to avoid deals like that if we can. Just always hard to balance that with them being too stubborn to deal away some guys when they might enjoy the salary relief
Fair enough. Thanks

I bet if you ask a lot of Cardinals fans, Matt Carpenter having no skill at 2B seems like a totally accurate assessment of his abilities. He hasn't played there in the last couple years, and those few years before that, "played" is about as much praise as you can give him for what he did there...

This is only my second year with OOTP. And I'm new to forums, so if the following question is out of place please tell me:
In looking over the Atlanta Braves roster I noticed that Austin Riley is in AAA. He will certainly Braves starting 3b. And Bryse Wilson is also in AAA with a low rating. How does this happen. Will it be updated?

Any chance I could get a link to the beta download? I ordered on Friday because of the early access.

Honestly I'd have paid full price just for roster updates and the sim speed increase from the jump to 64 bit, it feels that good. Fantastic release so far. I havent gotten to play all that much yet but what I did see was great. Visual changes are nice and clean.

I do have one random question: are ratings somewhat randomized at the start of each new save file? I've always wondered this. If I start two saves with the same team, same scout, players overall and potential will be different between the saves.

Smooth!

"Where did all these ballplayers come from?!" [Playing with the 1919 White Sox in Dyersville?]. Seriously, fast, seamless download and thus far setup is a breeze. Initial impressions very favorable indeed. Kudos to the development team.

Wondering?

I'm very new to forums. I want to ask a question, but I'm not sure this is the right place. If it's not please, someone redirect me.

Question: The Atlanta Braves Roster puts both Austin Riley and Bryse Wilson in AAA. At least Riley is sure to be the starting 3b and Wislon may be the fifth starter? Likewise Newcomb will probably be in AAA, not a ML starter. Will these things be fixed? Through transactions or other means?

The 3d stadiums are amazing. If there could be just some more work on player animation, this would be perfect.

Many would say that, but defensive metrics disagree. That being said he can't hit a bit.

“Value” and “realism” is so subjective I really wonder if people are looking in the mirror ogling at themselves when they get so upset that their version of it isn’t being represented.

If you read the first post at the following link, it should explain some of this a bit more.

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=325441

Now, this is not to say we have absolutely no control over this. We can tweak the ratings a bit to encourage the AI to make the 'right' decision. Sometimes this works, but sometimes it's not possible without going too far and distorting the player. So it's a bit of a balancing act. We'll certainly take another pass or two through the rosters as we get closer to opening day though and make some tweaks that should help with this sort of thing.

Let me say this, i have bought every issue since 2003 and have always been pleased and happy.

However, this year is different not only am i pleased and happy i am ecstatic with joy and all i can say is WOW. I am 70 and the road ahead is a lot shorter than the road behind but the leaps and bounds from last year are amazing the stadiums the players and the action camera really add to the enjoyment...So thank you Markus and team it has been a fun ride..For me, the game is giving me everything i expected and then some.
I hope to catch up with Eugene Church so that leaves me a few more years to watch OOTP continue to shine..

You actually make a good point here in that we had his defense a bit too low given the metrics. I've adjusted that for the next patch. That being said, I'm not sure that 25ish games played at 2B three and four years ago merits a big rating there. And I'm not convinced he'll really get many games there this year given that Sosa is arguably more likely to get the games Edman doesn't.

So I've given him some 2B experience now, but it's not the full 200.
