You could go “rogue commish” and rub some balm on his labrum and magically heal him and unretire him. I won’t tell.

Go in commish mode and erase his injury and bring him back.

I do wish there was an option to turn immediate career ending injuries off. They still aren't particularly realistic in-game most of the time. They, really, should only happen after significant setbacks from an injury or be handled by rating drops that cause a more natural retirement after being unable to find a job.
Yes, the injury file can be edited...but it becomes annoying to replace it again every time the game gets updated. |

Managers office to manager options. Check off commish mode. Go back to that player and go to Edit. Can alter him anyway you like.

If you are playing in Challenge Mode, I don't believe this is an option.
But if you aren't playing in Challenge Mode then go here: And check on this box (see highlighted portion of this screen): You don't need to quit your current job. You can move in and out of Commissioner Mode as you wish. Again, assuming you aren't playing in Challenge Mode.

Weird. Mine you can just click on “play on commish mode”. Maybe a more savvy vet knows what to do.

OK kebecois666, before you unretire Thomson ask yourself what you will do when you have a player who historically had a two year and out career turn into a 10 year player and multi time all star. Are you going to find a way to penalize yourself?
Here's an example of a two year career player who did better than all star. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=322464 I understand the frustration of your situation. I think most people have been there. I have decided its more interesting to go with what the game does than trying to change it. However decent solution is to set the option to have players retire historically. You won't have any 2 year career players playing for 10 years and your players with career ending injuries will magically heal and come back the next year. If you place the updated/edited injury.txt file in the league folder, the game will recognize that you have a "custom" file and it won't be replaced with eac update.

Do not play Challenge Mode. There are zero benefits beyond a free card pack for the Perfect team game mode 2 times a week or so. If you are only playing for the packs there are easier ways to get them. If you are not playing for packs, or do not know what I am talking about... there are zero benefits to challenge mode and an entire future of frustrations. Really should be warnings on that mode for new players so they don't get frustrated and quit. You cant access Commissioner Mode and thus stand a good chance of not being able to correct a game breaking issue in the future (I had one season end up starting in June in one league and ever could correct). You can't realign your league if you add teams in an expansion. The list goes on... There are many threads on these forums on how to increase the difficulty of the game if you desire. Challenge Mode, when it comes down to it, is not all that challenging so those threads will serve you better when the time comes. My 2 cents. I'd suggest switching right now regardless of how much time you have vested in your challenge mode league. An amazing amount of options and opportunities will open up to you.
