AI managing minor league system

When II ask AI to set up minor league system I kind of expected most of the red and green arrows to go away as those players were moved to the appropriate level. But that doesn't happen, is there some other issue I am missing?
In fact if Ii move a player up where the minor league coaches 'arrow' would place him, and then ask the AI to adjust, it will move him right back down again. I am sure there is something else the AI must be taking into consideration?

Sometimes the player can't be moved up if someone else is taking his spot.

IE player at Shortstop can't move up since all shortstops at next level are better then him.
Also individual coaches might have different ideas on if the player is ready or not hence the player being demoted with an "arrow"

Of course it's much more complicated then this but these are a few of the reasons you're seeing what you're seeing

Oh that is very helpful, I was not even thinking about the fact that moving the player up could cause him to just not get used.

Also, at least from my experience, look at those arrows as a loose suggestion. Not something set in stone. Dig into the ratings and stats yourself to confirm, in your own opinion, if the arrows are correct.

Some of this can be done by building views and filters for things you find important.

Another way that can be quick and simple, that I use and works quite well is to use the "rated compared to level" button. IE

go to your transactions>minor leagues page
If your monitor is big enough you will see all levels
I start at AAA and set all players compared to AAA. All minor leagues will now show ratings compared to AAA. I can quickly look at my AAA players to confirm they should be there. I can look to AA to see if there are players I should consider moving up. Once done with this...

change to ratings compared to AA and repeat the process. Then go on to do that for each level and you can quickly get through the whole orginization.

Personlly I do not rely just on the scout's ratings using this method but, I do trust it to get me on the right path. Before making the move I look at the player's stats, how long he's been at the level, etc. in conjunction with the ratings for final moves.

Hope that helps.

Outstanding suggestion. I never thought of that. I used time stats, potential, age and time at the current level, but never thought to change the ratings to measure against AAA as a little bit of a helper.

Yes, I've built views too that encompass stats, professional time, etc. Then use the method I suggested above, make a note on borderline players on paper, go to each minor league club and see how they look in this view. Keep in mind this will show his current stats at that level but then you can also switch to career to see his total stats at that level. You're pretty much limited only by what you can think of

Sometimes on the obvious ones its good enough to check the ratings on the minor league screen along with the popup box for a quick stat check. Other times I bring up the player page to see his stat history, work ethic, intelligence, and anything else I've included in my view to make a decision.

You don't have to make it overly complex but you can make it about as detailed as you'd like.

I thought maybe I was going a bit overboard making notes and such, but I see perhaps I am on the right track . Thanks for the great tips in this thread !
