Crakes Complete Comeback in Rookie
Lemp Ave - formerly OL's Comeback Kids - ended the season in a rush, winning 25 of 31 and 11 straight OL contests. It wasn't enough, as their lone OL loss of the month, to lowly Route 66, coupled with their inability to solve HelthWyzer, handed the Comeback Crakes an OL I202 title. The Crakes were a perfect 6-0 against the Perfectos this season.
Annandale also struggled against the Crakes and finished third in a very competitive race. No OL teams will be relegated. (Get well soon, Stanley!) |

Stone 168
The Penguins are the OL Stone 168 champions. Due to the second half surge of the Boston Red Sox they needed to win a game in their last series with Gettysburg to win their first OL title in franchise history. The hottest OL team down the stretch were the Baltimore Barons (who would have made the race a close 3-way battle without their June Swoon).
The Baltimore Barons, Gettysburg Bullets, Boston Red Sox and Algoma Penguins will all be promoted. The Shoe Box Legends will be relegated. All the above promoted teams will be in the playoffs and one OL team is guaranteed to be in the conference championship (league semi). Boston's Hack Wilson looks like a likely MVP candidate with the most RBI's and extra base hits in the AC. Boston's Al Brazle is also a likely Cy Young with the conference's best ERA and WAR. The Red Sox also had the leagues top base stealer with Dave Fultz stealing 107. The NC's Cy Young will likely be the Baron's Johnny Rigny who lead the league in ERA, FIP and WAR. The Penguins Willie Mitchell had 23 wins. |

All the best for a speedy recovery Stanley!
An expected tough week for both of my teams. Coney Island and Sugar Hill split their for game series in Brooklyn. Overall the Warriors have taken 8 of 11 from Sugar Hill in the subway series. The Warriors made a couple of moves signing Ripper Collins and Pie Traynor to take over the corner infield positions from Ed Kranepool and Brooks Robinson. I am looking for bullpen help but there is little available. I currently have 3 starters in the bullpen and I know they don't get the stuff boost they got in previous versions, which I'm fine with. I also understand if I am correct that they don't recover as quickly as a relief pitcher. That concerns me. In the past when I added a starter the starter in the rotation would go to the bullpen if he was a better option not because of a stuff boost. Sugar Hill is coming off a 57 win season are looking like they are going to field the same team as at last check there was no upgrade worth it to fit the teams theme. |

Hope you feel better soon Stanley. I’m glad the procedure went well.
Hey spleen, it is not too late to join. However, since the friends list functionality is currently busted it may not be possible to get you in a league with the other OL members next week. I heard a rumor that the bug is going to be fixed in a few days but I am afraid the fix will be too late for us to collect everyone prior to the league start on Monday. |

Waffletown regular season wrap-up:
While they came up short once again in the OL race, it was another solid regular season for the Syrups as they posted their second-best record in their young v22 career (106-56). This time, it was good enough to nab the division crown and the top seed in the AC; although I'm not sure seeding placement will have that big an impact in this Bronze tier playoff run. 9 of the 10 post season clubs posted 100 or more wins, with the 10th team ending with 99 wins; so there are no easy paths in this tree. On the offensive front, Waffletown led the league in runs scored (939), batting average (.292), on base percentage (.359), OPS (.829), batting WAR (39.8), wOBA (.359) and base running (+31.7). Syrups pitching still maintained a solid level of performance, despite the fun-house offensive dimensions of The Spile, ending with a 2nd ranked FIP (3.56), pitching WAR (34.5) and strikeouts (1437). On the individual front, four Waffletown players finished with over 100 RBIs (Slaughter with 136, Wilson with 113, Garciaparra with 110, and Trammell with 102). Enos Slaughter had a career year across the board. In the last week of the season, he managed to chase down Nelson Cruz in the home run category as well as Nick Madrigal in the batting average category to lay claim to his first Triple Crown (33 home runs, 136 RBIs, .338 average). He also led the league in hits (187), doubles (52), OBP (.417), slugging (.617), OPS (1.034) and WAR (7.9); putting up a solid argument for an MVP consideration. A big part of Slaughter's RBI production was thanks to Lenny Dykstra (67 stolen bases, 117 runs scored); and Alan Trammell (33 stolen bases, 125 runs scored) setting the table in front of him. From the pitching front, Cy Young had another stellar season (20-7, 3.27 ERA, 236 K). While not as dominant as last year, he still tied for the league lead with wins, and led the league in pitching WAR (9.5), so should be in the mix for a potential Pitcher of the Year for the second consecutive season. In the "feast-or-famine" category, Justin Verlander had an all-or-nothing type of season, making 36 starts and figuring in 34 of those decisions with an 18-16 record. Waffletown will await the winner of the wild card match between the Finneytown Flames (102-60) and the Chicago Juniors (101-61). |

Thanks to you all for the well wishes
I was kind of reluctant to bring it up, but I am basking in all the kind attention.
Seems Jobu also had me in mind. Only 10 packs to open this morning, after a mediocre 45 the past two days I got a "get Wells" message from the packs in the form of a 98 Willie Wells. He seems to command pretty high price on the AH, so at some point he may end up there. He won't be breaking into the line up ahead of Dave Concepcion, and I'm not sure about pulling back up Ron Hansen, who does well with limited play and is guy from "my era," My doctor just told me I'm sprung.

Chicken Wolf
In a very surprising and frankly lucky development the Helthwyzer Crakes have bolstered their playoff roster with Jimmy "Chicken" Wolf.
The Crakes were celebrating their OL title with Pigoon meat in the AnooYoo Spa parking lot when Jimmy strolled by with a previously held appointment. Jimmy is a quiet player and was unexpectedly "pulled in" and offered to help the Crakes in playoffs. He enjoys the sea so is unlikely to stay with the Crakes--he said he may be interested in baseball adventures with whales and sharks. |
