Historical Finances
Not a bug as such, but something to look at going forward.
Having played an historical game from 1917 through the 1940's, it was noticeable that there was virtually no financial pressures at any time in the game. Despite having a stacked roster I rarely managed to exceed 50% of my annual salary budget, and other teams rarely got past 30-40%. So I could pretty much meet every contract request without any concerns. Similarly the staff budgets were way too high, and it was too simple to just sign all the best scouts or coaches. Given this era included post-WWI, the Great Depression and WWII, and several NHL franchises went bust or relocated , there should be much tighter and restrictive budgets. Also in that era a lot of trades were Player X for cash, or Player X for Player Y plus $cash, so it would be nice if the $ element could be incorporated in trades at some point, with decisions having to be made whether to add/subtract it from salary or staff budgets, or the owners pockets! |

Yeah, I was deliberately very lenient with the historical budgets because of the potential to break the game if the teams couldn't spend enough, but I went too far. The whole financial system is schedule for an overhaul in FHM8, so I'm going to take a look at improving that situation there. I'm also planning on enabling cash deals as well, it just needs a few adjustments from the current transfer system which would have some issues with handling transfers in an NHL-like environment.
