I usually rant equal amounts whether they're in first or fifth. I can never be happy.

But just watch that pop at 8:52 for yourself. That is absolutely inexcusable. I'll start a petition for Boom-Boom Diaz having to donate his glove to an underprivileged child, since it has OBVIOULSY NO FUNCTION FOR HIM.

Also, McCann casually carrying all his worldly belongings through fair ground, being confident this will somehow resolve itself without personal intervention.

Ugh. Chest pains...!

(falls off chair)

Additional Note #1: Keith Hernandez going "What??" when Gary Cohen announces that the ball dropped in probably means he was halfway out the door when Ahmed popped up that ball, trying to beat the traffic.

Additional Note #2: Never mind the DH - looks like pitchers need a ******* DF; a Designated Fielder. Even Gary Cohen apportions no responsibility to ******* Diaz on this ball.

Additional Note #3: I can't stop watching this and getting angrier and angrier.

We have a 6-game winning streak, but do we even have 6 players left??

Davis out (left paw), Nimmo out (left paw - isn't the left paw the least important paw??), deGrom to DL (back/lat/sadness), McNeil has cramps and can't find the ratcoon, Almora runs full *** into the fence ... we're one piano falling on Lindor away from the return of Ruben Tejada at short

Never mind all that. Tim Tebow is back!

No, not with the Mets — put Honeypaws down.

Instead, he wants to be back in the NFL. As a tight end!

Um, has he ever played tight end? For Tim, it does not seem to matter.

You had me gasping for air for a moment.

Right now I am entirely content with the return of Matt Harvey in a Baltimore Birds uniform. (Side note: due to internet outages, I am a couple of innings behind. So far the Mets lead )

I have some thoughts on that, but I do not want to derail this thread...

Kelenic 3 for 4 with a HR last night.
Cano on the suspended for PED multiple offender disappeared list, & signed thru 2023 Diaz meh.

Are we right on the precipice of the worst trade in Met history? Or can we never eclipse Ryan for Fregosi ? or Amos Otis for Joe Foy.

I don't think you can beat Ryan for Fregosi.

Maybe deGrom, Peterson, Pete, and McNeil with $90M to the Yankees for Mike Ford.

At least the Mets got *something* back in that trade. Steve Henderson broke out big right away and finished 2nd in ROTY voting, and Pat Zachry looked like a really good young pitcher (injuries did him in? I wasn't even alive back then...).

Jim Fregosi was a DISASTER for the Mets, who shed not only the meaty part of Nolan Ryan's legendary inner-circle Hall of Fame career, but also three other players on top of that! (Even though only Leroy Stanton had any sort of career in the majors. Don Rose washed out fast, and Frank Estrada never played in the majors again after the trade - and only one game with the Mets before it.)

At least the Midnight Massacre traded away an 11-year veteran for young stuff. The Fregosi trade shed tremendous young talent for bleeping Jim Fregosi, who didn't hit anything and from what I can see in defensive stats was also challenged with the glove...!

Yes, bystanders. This is something that Mets fans love to do. Ranking our many, many catastrophic traumas by severity and how long it made us bleed profusely. You lot keep talking about which of your dynasties was the greatest, we're busy crying over here.

All a part of the Mets' futile attempts to find a 3B during those years. "Let's trade some young talent for a fading SS and move him to third! Brilliant!"

In '69 they also traded Amos Otis and Bob Johnson (useful early-70s swingman) for Joe Foy (a decent hitter and high OBP guy) whom they lost in the Rule 5 draft after one year. Finally settling on Wayne Garrett (who was already in the system!) after all that was such a Metsy move.

El season es finito.

No, I don't speak Spanish.

Conforto exited in the first inning at Tropicana Field with right hamstring tightness, and McNeil left in the third with left hamstring tightness. It’s not known if either will go on the injured list. Both will get an MRI exam after the team arrives in Atlanta on Monday to begin a three-game series against the Braves.

We know the Mets. MRI on Monday. "It's all fine" on Tuesday. They linger on the bench until Thursday without playing. Finally moved to the DL on Sunday after losing another five games.

And sometime next week we get the relieving news that the two amputation surgeries were a full success!

These marvelous Mets manage to lose more players to injury even when you are dead certain that they don't have any players left!

Taijuan Walker, who was worryingly competent, out with "left side tightness" (e.g. ded), and Pillar took a baseball off the face - with the bases loaded to force in a run. But he clearly didn't pay attention in Conforto's "Scoring with your Body" masterclass......

I am so tired already, and it's only May......

And yet... they win anyway!

Fortunately everyone else stinks too.. Acuna's foot almost fell off when he tried to stop tio fast in the OF. The good depth they had got them to this point, now it's a race to see if anyone can heal up (and not just rub dirt on it, come back, and get hurt worse) before the Small Sample Size fairies desert them.

Also, it's a miracle Pillar isn't dead. I hate to suggest them trying to trade for someone, but with him obviously out for the year they'll need someone. I'd be inclined to find an older LF to rotate with Dom if not put him back on the bench/rotating with Pete. Then whichever isn't playing would give them a decent PH option.

You got Cameron Maybin from the Cubs for cash, but he's going to AAA for a while.
