Full credit to user chinmusic on another forum who pointed out that the Remini app produces amazing enhancements to old photos. I took some of my worst sources for players I had no other photos of (1871's Bill Lennon and Jim Foran) and here are the results:

In fairness, the original tip came from ariscotle2. As can be seen in your example, the app can do an impressive job on facial features but not much for the rest of the image. In that respect, it's great for making facial images for use in the games. It can't rescue everything but it can turn a "blah" image into quite a good one for a game face shot.

I definitely agree it is a quite useful tool. It doesn't do well with backgrounds that are "busy," but for portrait style or closeups I've been happy with the results. Here's a good example for player George Ziegler, of which this is his only known photo. The difference is night and day in my opinion.

Here's another option for Snyder, pictured with the Buffalo city league team Simon Pures in 1913. The previous Facepack image pictured Snyder as an elderly man.

Julio Gonzalez (Tigers), Randy Martz (White Sox) and Steve Fireovid (Padres) have been shared here in years past--2008, 2008 and 2011 respectively. These are probably too small to be useful, but a photo of each exists in their 1983 uniform.

The previously shared Jim M. Lewis (Twins) image is a Photoshop of Lewis's 1984 Cramer PCL Salt Lake Gulls card.
