Last nights future legend missions were disappointing for the OL for sure, since none of the players can be used. Through randomness Annandale was able to complete five or six of the missions right away, though I have to admit I didn’t spend much time looking at the cards since it doesn’t really matter to me how good they are! I see them more as a steppingstone toward Franchise Heroes missions.
One thing I’ve been thinking about is what the potential rewards will be for the future franchise heroes missions. I’m pretty sure each team will have two more FH reward cards and it should not be that difficult to figure out who they will be. Once I figure that out, I will decide which teams I want to concentrate on, and I will load up on cards from those teams in an effort to have as much complete as I can before the missions are announced. For instance for Atlanta/Milwaukee I figure one of their awards is going to be Hank Aaron. The other one? Spahn? Likewise for the Yankees one will undoubtedly be Mickey Mantle. The other one though is pretty wide-open as it could be Jeter, Babe Ruth, Gehrig, Whitey Ford, or a basket full of alternatives. The Giants would have to offer Willie Mays as one of their awards, but who is the other one going to be? Then there’s a guy like Pedro Martinez, who could potentially appear for Montreal, Boston, LA, or… Didn’t he play for some other team also? Figuring out what team gets him is going to be part of the fun for me. Same goes for Randy Johnson since he could appear on Seattle or Arizona. I’m leaning toward Arizona because it wouldn’t Seattle have to be Griffey Jr and Ichiro? If anyone feels like speculating I will collate any educated guesses and post them periodically. although I like the idea, I'll second the disappointment with the FL rewards being more FL from an OL perspective. I was hoping for the rewards to be like the toppers of the mission.
quite the dilemma. I've been playing along with FH because I like it (& it has been rewarding), but not sure I'm willing to drop a ton of points into cards I won't use or lock the ones I already have for no immediate payoff... but I will then also be left with an incomplete FH run. should be interesting.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the missions structure this year, to last. From a packs-only perspective, it all looks a lot more attainable in a shorter amount of time. But, so many of the rewards (on route to the FH toppers) are more useful for tourneys than using in PT, so I'm getting small upgrades a lot less often than I would hope for. What with having accumulated quite a few FL's, I was really hoping to get a few new cards to choose from, like, now! A little too much delayed gratification for my liking... I'm still waiting for a decent 2B!!
Having not studied the FL cards at all, seeing the rewards (and the fact that they were missing from the game), I suppose it was actually pretty obvious what the rewards for the FL missions were going to be, but I'm still disappointed

Gold League:
Waffletown's good month (and 2nd 2-1 series win against Paxville) puts them top of OL and in a strong position in their division. There's a whole lot of OL fixtures to play out yet, so there are still many possibilities. The Syrups have so far taken advantage of a lighter schedule, and that could continue... or be their undoing! If they win at least 3 of their 6 remaining games, it'll be quite tough for anyone to overtake them. However, if they were to lose 4, anything can happen. With 14 games left, even Algoma still technically have a chance!

Bronze
New York still has the lead in OL as we hit September. They conclude their OL schedule beginning at 10:30am when they visit Coney Island for three games. They are catching the Warriors are the right time as they stumbled their way through the dog days.
Keystone and Asheboro get together four games in Asheboro. That will close out both teams schedules. If one team dominates that series it could move them to the top. The others have too many games, and against each other to figure out the possibilities. In PT play Asheboro and New York still lead their divisions. Coney Island fell from its lead in the NC East which is shaping to be a race to the wire with Port Rupppert and the current division leaders. Waxsaw. At some point yesterday each of the three teams held the top spot. The Mundy's close their season playing their final 3 vs Coney Island followed by 3 vs Waxsaw. Keystone is clinging to a .5 game lead for the second WC in the AC while Coney Island and Port Ruppert hold the WC's in the NC. |

Are these future legend cards a requirement for the face of the franchise? I get confused when looking at the missions, so I tend to complete those that organically appear as completed, only venturing further if the collection is very nearly done. I am timid because I got burned early on by mistakenly locking a Brad Woodall, who got to 100, and whose 20,000 price tag mocks me whenever I click on "manage cards." As for guesses about who the faces might be, how about Christy Mathewson, Bill Terry, or Mel Ott for the Giants? Clemente and Wagner for the Pirates, or maybe Arky Vaughn? Seems to me that if you think of a team and are surprised by some of the names you haven't seen yet, that might be a clue. I'm thinking guys like Kaline, Musial, Newhouser, Koufax, Snider, Yaz, Appling, Boudreau, Hornsby, a better Cobb or Ruth, etc., etc., etc. One last thing. I believe we have seen standings for every level except stone, so they all should be covered tomorrow. Is anybody committed to doing stone? If not, please post screen shots of the team vs. team for the OL teams only. |

Iron
With no OL games remaining in I188, Gear Terrace claims the crown.
Four out of five teams are in playoff contention. No teams will be relegated. |

I have decided I am going to turn over the Sugar Hill roster. They have 3 OL games remaining-the last three of the season vs Inland Empire. IE has six games left and could end up in a dead heat with Baltimore if the Barons drop all four. I am not going to start moving players off the roster until OL has an official winner. I am going to make it a team of players I identify with-regardless of their rating. Having been a 3B all of my life I would love to have Nettles (I even wore #9) but he is part of a mission and going for over 90K on a card thats worth maybe 8K. I would be willing to over pay a bit but thats ridiculous.
Coney Island grabbed a Joe Cronin in its pack pulls this morning along with a Live Aroldis Chapman, a few historic and live golds. With the 41 packs I opened it completed 8 more missions and threw some SE golds up for auction. |

I will say I have never noticed having this OL intense of a last month to a schedule for either team (11 games with Cedar Rapids alone). It is kind of interesting in its own right. Algoma has had a surprisingly good year except against OL teams (they are not really even in wildcard contention but if they played just .500 against OL teams they would be). I am sure Waffletown's avoiding OL teams has helped them this seaon .

OL race in D373
We haven't had a lot of OL games this season, but the WC race is heating up.

Gold is getting VERY interesting. The Waffletown faithful (all sporting matching Syrups caps and jerseys) must have thought they were cruising to the Crown, but the Desert Eagles shot down any early celebrations with three tough 1-run decisions. I think I'm gonna have to do a Saturday evening update to see where we're at before I go to sleep! Update: Paxville have just dropped out of the race, and it's down to 3 now. Waffletown have the clubhouse lead, so will have to nervously wait to see what Boston and Cedar Rapids can do!

Did they say whether we need the FL cards to get the second and third round of FH cards? I've been selling my Future Legends all along. I don't even mind missing the bump in prices and possible extra cards to sell but if I needed them fro the later FH it will hurt.
The Mad Brewers will avoid relegation but this has not been a good season in Diamond. The offense is ok but the pitching needs help and the late addition of Sam McDowell doesn't seem to be it.

with a little help from dishnet & calling my shot, the Men were finally able to add Jackie Robinson.
felt pretty good having 6 figure perfect points, & still not sure I did the right thing, but have been wanting to get Jackie since I started playing. worst case scenario, I guess, is I sell him later. only having to spend a little over 100K (with pulls) to roster both Gibson & Robinson made it a risk worth taking for the playoff push IMHO. this will also help keep my teams a little different from each other because I'm sure I won't be in position to get Jackie again. the team will probably go untouched for awhile after this, but who knows. I like where they are at, still not sure if FH is worth it now in OL & my other team is about to drop out of diamond. they need some help.

Bronze Final
Baltimore coasts to a crown. The Barons are also the only OL team to make the playoffs drawing a wildcard spot.
Promotion/Relegation: Staying in Bronze: Sugar Hill, Cleveland, Route 66, Inland Empire, Bluffton Relegated: Daytona Beach, Las Vegas Baltimore will be decided based on their playoff performance. With six promotions If they win their wildcard game they will be promoted regardless of the outcome of the division series as they have the 4th best record. |
