Gold League
Congrats to Cary! Though they closed it out with a rather flakey 6-6 month
. Another truly dominant season (+500 run diff).Knockemstiff were (for the 2nd year running) the only OL team with a winning record against Cary, again recording a 'mighty' 2-1 series win! The Syrups had a particularly unfortunate run there at the end, but they're looking good for next season. And Seattle well and truly proved that you need a decent bullpen, but they probably won't have one of them for a loooong time... I'll be following the DS with baited breath, 'cause another season in Gold for the Southpaws would be verging on the absurd... Gold REALLY needs 5/6 promotions asap. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs! (but if you're called Coney Island, try not to beat Cary )P.S. What's happened in Diamond this week? |

Trying not to beat Cary is the easiest task for Coney Island if the Warriors make it past the WC game. The Southpaws have owned my teams, especially the Warriors in every version of PT they competed in. I havent been logging in much to my teams the past few weeks. I did yesterday and today and poked around the auction house for the Warriors but I decided its best to stand pat. I may look for an arm to replace Chapman in the bullpen as he has been consistently bad in Gold. I ran Guidry in for him yesterday to a bit better result (I still think the 1978 Guidry card got short changed on movement). Otherwise the Warriors are still going to hoard points. If I do anything for them I need to look at my bronze tourney team. I am still getting a trickle of packs instead of the steady stream I had been getting.
As for Sugar Hill the all gold team has just completed their 9th "Season" a dismal 10 games under .500 after a playoff appearance last week. Overall since the switch they are 12 games over .500. I didn't expect much from them so I am good with the overall and it is more satisfying than the crappy team filled with diamonds I dismantled to make this team Now it's time to start thinking what the next incarnation will be. I thought about going to a 1970's team (maybe even bringing back the Boogie Knights from PT20) or maybe even the original theme of all New York area teams. The change over is 6 weeks away but planning is going to have to start soon. |

that is the pleasant version of the last week of the season ![]() in other words, Waffletown had an epic, pathetic, horrendous finish... sitting at 96-60 with 6 games remaining (and holding the final wild card spot with a 2 game lead), they proceeded to blow their last 6 games (kudos to HelthWyzer for playing spolier and kicking Syrup rear end for a 4 game sweep to end the season).... while on the flip side, the Shiners went 4-2 in their last 6 (including 2 out of 3 against Cary... sheesh, can't count on a 122 win team for help ) to do a flip-flop with Waffletown and claim the final wild card spot by 2 gamesgood luck in the playoffs for those who made it |

Cleveland (80-82) "squeezes" the OL Crown from Boulder City (96-66) in B.218.
Boulder, West Burlington, and Baltimore are expected to move to SILVER. All other OL teams will remain in BRONZE. Last edited by HRBaker; 09-05-2021 at 09:50 PM. |

Cary improves team en route to Diamond league next week
So Cary spent down PP obtained from selling off live Ohtani and Beuhler cards to finish some missions and get some key players for playoffs and next season: Please welcome each of the following players:
I hope this will make the team good enough to at least compete for playoffs in diamond league next season.

We want to extend thanks to:
Cy Young, who is retiring after 22 years of service.
We say a very sad goodbye to Cy Young, who has been a mainstay of the club since the 2022 season:

Three OL teams moving up to Diamond next season
So there should be enough teams in Diamond next week for a crown. Three of the teams that won the Division series in OL gold are OL teams.
So that means there will be at least five (six unless NoWhere wins the Diamond series) teams in diamond next season. Also, there is an interesting sub-league series matchup between Cary (a lefty cheese team) and Sonora (a righty cheese team). I am giving it the moniker "battle of the hands". ;-)

Our League is 0 for 2043
Cary, the last of our PT World Series teams, fell in seven games in gold, so, for the first time in a long time, OL will not claim any PT hardware. Let's make up for it next week. Make sure to attend to your friends list.
